..."Those soldiers are terrified here," Dr. Salim al-Dyni, a psychotherapist visiting Fallujah told IPS. Dr Dyni said he had seen professional reports of psychologically disturbed soldiers "while serving in hot areas, and Fallujah is the hottest and most terrifying for them."

Dr. Dyni said disturbed soldiers were behind the worst atrocities. "Most murders committed by U.S. soldiers resulted from the soldiers' fears."...

U.S. soldiers have been reacting wildly to attacks on them.

Several areas of Fallujah recently went without electricity for two weeks after U.S. soldiers attacked the power station following a sniper attack.

Thubbat, Muhandiseen, Muallimeen, Jughaifi and most western parts of the city were affected. "They are punishing civilians for their failure to protect themselves," a resident of Thubbat quarter told IPS. "I defy them to capture a single sniper who kills their soldiers."

Many of those killed in the ongoing violence are civilians. The biggest local complaint is that U.S. forces attack civilians at random in revenge for colleagues killed in attacks by the resistance...

"At least half the deceased are women, children and elderly people," group co-director Mohamad Tareq al-Deraji told IPS.

Overstretched U.S. soldiers appear to be punishing civilians while suffering from some form of post-traumatic stress disorder. IPS reported Jan. 3 that new guidelines released by the Pentagon last month allow commanders now to re-deploy soldiers suffering from such disorders.

01/09/07 "AP" -- -- -FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. - An Army private charged with the slaughter of an Iraqi family was diagnosed as a homicidal threat by a military mental health team three months before the attack.

On March 12, 2006, Iraqi police reported a break-in at the home of a family in Mahmoudiya, about 20 miles from Baghdad. The intruders shot and killed the father, mother and two young daughters. The older girl, 14-year-old Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, was raped and her body set afire.

The carnage first was assumed to be the work of insurgents. That changed in late June when two members of Green's unit told their superiors of suspicions that soldiers were involved in the killings. Now the Army believes Green and four other soldiers, including Pfc. Bryan L. Howard, 23, of Huffman, Texas, are responsible. One of them has confessed and provided information to prosecutors; in testimony at his court-martial, the soldier identified Green as the ringleader.

If the charges are true, the attack would be among the most horrific instances of criminal behavior by American troops in the nearly four-year-old war. It also would represent a worst-case scenario for the military's much-criticized practice of keeping mentally and emotionally unfit personnel in the killing fields of Iraq.

You saw this in Vietnam. The soldiers got jumpy and had spells of rage towards non-comabatants. The movie (albeit it is a movie) showed us the affects of PTSD on soldiers in combat. They burned villages and killed civilians if they thought they were helping the VC, with little or no proof that they actually were.

Only time will tell if this has a lasting affect on US Soldiers.

I would also like to see some stats from other countries and the affect that the war is having on their soldiers.

Also, in Canada our troops have a rotation requirement. They need a certain period of time off once they have completed two tours. I'm not 100% on the exact wording.

No I believe the Canadian Forces has a good system set up for troop's who are suffering personal problem's so this doesn't happen. I haven't heard of any major incidents happening overseas yet.

But the number of injured has far outstripped the dead, with the Veterans Administration reporting that more than 150,000 veterans of the Iraq war are receiving disability benefits....

If you lost an arm or a leg in Vietnam, you were also tremendously injured in your chest and abdomen, which were not protected by the armor plates back then," he said. "Now, your heart and chest and lungs and heart are protected by armor, leaving only your extremities exposed."

Dr. Imbascini just returned from a four-month deployment to Germany, where he treated the worst of the U.S. war wounded. He said that an extremely high number of wounded soldiers are coming home with their arms or legs amputated. Imbascini said he amputated the genitals of one or two men every day...

Pentagon studies show that 12 percent of soldiers who have served in Iraq suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. The group Veterans for America, formerly the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, estimates 70,000 Iraq war veterans have gone to the VA for mental health care.

New guidelines released by the Pentagon released last month allow commanders to redeploy soldiers suffering from traumatic stress disorders....

On Christmas, for example, Army Reservist James Dean barricaded himself in his father's home with several weapons and threatened to kill himself. After a 14-hour standoff with authorities, Dean was killed by a police officer after he aimed a gun at another officer, authorities told the Washington Post.

Veterans for America's Robinson told IPS that Dean, who had already served 18 months in Afghanistan, had been diagnosed with PTSD. He had just been informed that his unit would be sent to Iraq on Jan. 14.

"We call that suicide by cop," Robinson said.

Canadian military personal are suffering you can bet on it. I am reminded of that young fellow from New Brunswick, just back from Afganistan early in 2006, who had the addiction problems, broke the law over something and died. His family said he had been using drugs to self medicate for his PTSD this was over Christmas, I will try to find some articles.

If I want the truth, I tend to read articles from Harpers, the National Post, Globe and Mail, CNN, and BBC.

Except, that the US wouldn't realistically be decimated in Iraq, especially since they only have a few thousand casualties, and their is no force strong enough to decimate the US military.

You first have to read about the history of money to understand it then spread the word and build awareness. The best way to do this is to get people to watch The Money Masters - a free video on google. There are other sources and videos as well. The Monopoly Men is a free video on google that was a documentary on TV in the 60's, same as The Capitalist Conspiracy. You can see these both on Google video for free.

Canada, USA and the UK have monetary reform parties, get involved with them. In Canada its the Canadian Action Party, In UK its the Reform Party in the USA its Lyndon LaRouche.

Most importantly, to understand the world you must listen to a variety of news sources that are not part of the corporate controlled media. The corporate controlled media is just there to spread propoganda and is tightly controlled by the Pentagon. If bankers control the world then banker controlled governments will manage you with propoganda. You will easily see that bankers indeed do run the world and it can't be denied by economists although it is never spoken of.

That is exacvtly what they want people to do. It would usher in the police state that much faster. Once they have total control and can see everyone they can organize mass executions. The detention centers are there for a reason and no one has ever made a complex network of detention centers all linked by rail like this without the intention of mass execution. Its the only possible explanation - else who would feed all these occupants ?
