jdobbin Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2006/11/24/russian-spy.html Is Russia quickly trying to kill off its critics? This suspected assassination and the deaths of journalists in Russia is a disturbing trend. Quote
geoffrey Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Russia as a sum of it's part's is a troubling trend indeed. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

Charles Anthony Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 What "trend" do you see?? It is nothing new. Mother Russia is rising again, watch out!!!No nation can dominate the world. We depend on eachother too much and modern communications make it much more difficult to deceive the masses. Quote We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Higgly Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 OMG! We're all working off of a CBC quote! Heh, heh. Quote "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". Pogo (Walt Kelly).
Leafless Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 I don't think Russia will ever develop into a free democratic country as functionability of the country is currently being hampered by the Russian mafia and probably will be forever. http://gangstersinc.tripod.com/Rus.html Quote
Higgly Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 This is the problem with Perestroika. Deng Xiao Peng had it right. Economic freedom before political freedom. I believe he may prove to be one of the greatest leaders of all time. Quote "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". Pogo (Walt Kelly).
sharkman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Putin is slowly gathering the reins of a dictatorship. It was reported yesterday that Russia is selling advanced military hardware to Iran. He's also making friends in low places. Quote
August1991 Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 The Daily Telegraph has a good, long article about this case: As a work of fiction it would be unbelievable: a dissident KGB colonel poisoned in a London sushi bar, the finger of suspicion pointed at the Russian President. It was 9.21 pm on Thursday when Alexander Litvinenko's traumatised body finally gave up its fight for life. With his wife Marina, son Anatoly and father Walter at his bedside, the former KGB colonel struggled for his last breath in an isolation ward at University College Hospital in central London. There are many curious leads in this case. Litvinenko was employed by Boris Berezovsky and I wonder if there is any connection to the case of Anatoly Trofimov. In such cases, it is worth pointing out that the murder itself is less important than the message it advertises. Quote

There is a certain recklessness to it. Killing a British citizen in Britain? Whew. That's a huge risk for Putin... I wonder what the return was on that gamble.
