August1991 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 Years ago, I was riding in a metro in Sweden (Finland?) beside my daughter. We were tourists. I looked around. I said to her, in French, these Europeans don't understand assimilation. Quote

The glacial ice shaved off the organic soil from Canada and deposited it in America. Hence, America has the lion share of fertile land (more yield per amount of input) for cropping. Higher calorie production at a lower price making industrial food production at scale possible. These are not accidents. The borders are the way it is for a reason, we gave Canada and Mexico the less arable land with less defensible parts. Edited April 12 by paxamericana Quote

Is this fertile land that you think you got the reason a Canadian's life expectancy is ~5 years longer than an American's, or is there another reason? I'm thinking Ozempic may help you close that gap... Quote

On the other hand an iceberg (expanse) has more than a modicum of geo-defense. No question the U.S. is the breadbasket of the World .............farmers applaud($$)........... providing they can get fertilizer. Quote

Don’t need those type of fertilizer. Nitrogen is a byproduct of oil production, the us is self sufficient in that particular input. Quote

On a farm a huge expense per acre is fertilizer. Crops exhaust the soil .......... even if the domestic product (fert) could be produced it would be very expensive to fill demand. Farmers ARE going to hurt this year. ......... planting season begins - 3 wks ago? Quote

Maybe I’m not being specific, American farmers will not be hurting. And before you get to your keyboard, like fuel, fertilizer are globally traded commodity, hence that word “global” which has no bearing on US decision making. The department of agriculture will subsidize if they see fit a genuine threat to us food production. And if things fall apart bad enough, the us president can shut down the export of fertilizer, at which point we’re looking at a global famine outside the western hemisphere. Yes, you do produce food.... and eat a lot of it too which is why a large portion of your country is going through Ozempic like Tic Tacs. ~20% of your food is imported where we're at ~30%. Maybe that's the reason we live ~5 years longer you? Quote
