GostHacked Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/06/12/...tors/index.html BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Private military contractors are earning billions of dollars in Iraq -- much of it from U.S. taxpayers.Business is booming for those willing to tackle one of the most dangerous jobs on Earth. Lucrative U.S. government contracts go to firms called on to provide security for projects and personnel -- jobs that in previous conflicts have been done by the military. Now I think I know where those emergency war funds go to. Like holy crap dudes. Most of the money goes to some security or paramilitary group. Just wow. So money gets poured into Iraq and right back into the pockets of those firms. The reason they give? The military does not want to do those job. Like you have a damn choice, you singed up, and put on the uniform. Do your job soldier, or I understand that they are in a dangerous spot and should get paid for their time. But making a years pay in 3 months is quite drastic. How about paying the men and women in uniform higer wages? How about putting that money into rebuilding Iraq? How about getting the military to do their job (instead of private security firms)? So it seems for the most part that the money is going back to the U.S. Such a waste. Anyone else see this as being very wrong? Like I know companies are in business to make a profit, but THAT much of a profit? War = Good for buisness. Quote

newbie Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Why do you think Haliburton moved off-shore? Because it's lucrative dealing with rogue states and profitting from U.S. intiated wars. Quote

Anyone else think Haliburton is much worse than any corruption we've seen in Canada? The company gives Dick Cheney a $20 million dollar severance package (or bribe, depending on how you look at it) and in return halliburton gets over ten billion dollars in direct award contracts from the government! Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
BubberMiley Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 It certainly makes it clear why they felt they had to start a war. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
