Only at the cost of the destruction of NATO which would be a major win for Putin and Xi

Or the rest of NATO asking the US to leave.

If they don't want to get invaded... do a better job at protecting it's border.

Your usual Ugly American stupidity again,

Like Donnie Douchebag telling us how Canada would get "protection" if it became the 51st state when he is the only one threatening us.

But I partially agree, Canada and Denmark should make a separate joint defence agreement over Greenland. It's people have more ties in common with those of Nunavut, N Quebec and Labrador. Should they choose themselves have more to gain as the 4th Cdn territory than the USA could ever offer them.

I don’t think you understand how geopolitics work. Countries don’t have friends, we have interests.

The Premier of Greenland issued the following statement this morning in response to Trump's renewed threats:

"This morning, I am both saddened and grateful...

Saddened, because during a press conference last night, the President of the United States once again expressed a desire to take over Greenland. With such statements, our country is reduced to a question of security and power. That is not how we see ourselves, and it is not how Greenland can or should be spoken about.

We are a people with a long history, a strong culture, and a vibrant democracy. We are a country with responsibility for our own territory and for our own future. Our territorial integrity and our right to self-determination are firmly anchored in international law and cannot simply be ignored.

That is also why I am grateful.

Thank you to everyone here at home for the clear support and unity that has been shown. The calmness and dignity with which you have met this situation send a strong signal of a people who stand firm in their values and in their responsibility.

I would also like to thank heads of government and partners around the world who have clearly and unequivocally expressed their respect for Greenland, for our democratic institutions, and for the fundamental principles of international law. That support confirms that we here at home do not stand alone.

Once again: Greenland is our country. Decisions are made here. And I will at all times fight for our freedom and our right to decide for ourselves and to shape our own future.

For now, I hope that the peace of Christmas can settle over us all.
Merry Christmas

Legally? Against their wishes?

Texas might be an  example - but the list is long.

The annexation of Texas (1845) was legally contentious - partisan politics as always - but it was ultimately recognized as legal by the U.S. Gov.

The 'Zimmerman Telegram' greatly influenced the U.S. to enter WWI.

Sort of a Sudetenland strategy - not sure the slaves saw the new landlord as a salvation tho.

Well, interesting that you lump Israel and Russia together as if they are anywhere in the same universe of moral equivalence.

They've both made annexation  and dispossession a profitable and respectable endeavor. Even the shiniest beacon for liberty and freedom is eyeing up other people's territory and real estate.

I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,
a liberal, oh fanatical criminal

LOL, sure, Israel defends itself against total destruction and then keeps strategic land as buffer zones to prevent the continuation of people trying to murder them all.

Of course you are just fine with seeing every last Israeli murdered, raped, tortured...

Sure and you guys shed crocodile tears about how how horribly we're treating you and how threatened and insecure you are.

What does any of this have to do with anything? Are you off your meds today or something?

Trump inventing security crises to justify US violent aggression.

Like Israel in the Westbank and Russia in Ukraine.

Of course you people are also threatening our annexation and Greenland and you haven't ruled out using military force to do so.

You're totally oblivious to this? I'm not surprised really.

I have no idea what is going on in that brain of yours, you just went from talking about Trump and Canada and when challenged on that to saying violent aggression. Then when asked you point to the Gulf of America.

Go take your meds.

Naw, I'm just quoting what's relevant.
