blackbird Posted November 9, 2025 Report Posted November 9, 2025 (edited) Global news reports the federal government is pushing to get Canada involved in Eurovision. Global news reported the CBC had said they didn't get involved in it previously because it was "prohibitively expensive". What has changed now? Carney? Why is the federal government now trying to find new ways to spend vast amounts of taxpayer money in Europe while the federal deficit is pushing 70 billion dollars? Budget 2025: Canada eyes Eurovision, getting cheers, jeers The answers may lie in Carney's globalism. Carney has a history of holding key positions with the WEF, the U.N., the Vatican, head of the bank of England and other organizations. He may be attempting to bring Canada into a globalist relationship with the European Union and other globalist entities. The federal government is already spending over 12 billion dollars a year on foreign countries. The biggest question, is Carney working to bring Canada or use Canada to work toward a one-world government? Edited November 9, 2025 by blackbird Quote
eyeball Posted November 9, 2025 Report Posted November 9, 2025 (edited) Why are Carney and the Liberals attempting to get the CBC involved in Eurovision? Probably to trigger the Conservative base of support. Getting the crazies that represent 10% of Canadian voters to freak out prevents voters from electing Conservative governments. Exploiting the freaks under the Conservatives Big Tent this way has always been effective. You guys walk into every time. And it certainly wouldn't put it past you guys to spend $12 billion dollars out of the future generations pockets just for giggles. But to be honest it's more likely that carney will make money out of this when he gets out of office Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
Barquentine Posted November 9, 2025 Report Posted November 9, 2025 Hopefully gov't support is limited to applying and a bit of political contact. The private sector should step up on this one. CTV and TVA could pay the $250,000 or so plus some other costs and recoup it through ad revenue. Quote
herbie Posted November 9, 2025 Report Posted November 9, 2025 CTV? They're not interested in anything but dumb reality shows. Mid Nov and haven't seen one program in their prime time lineup I'd watch. The other networks would bring you NCIS Halifax before anything that wasn't American. Quote

Looka like the costs will be part of the 150 million dollar increase the CBC is getting.
