The Hatch Act REQIRES Federal employees to NOT use Federal funds for POLITICAL PURPOSES:

Quote
The Hatch Act, enacted in 1939, is a federal law that restricts the political activities of certain federal executive branch employees, as well as some state, D.C., and local government employees involved with federally funded programs. Its primary goal is to ensure nonpartisan administration of government programs and protect the federal workforce from political coercion. Alleged violations are investigated and prosecuted by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC).

Key provisions and restrictions
Restrictions under the act vary depending on the employee's role. Most employees are "less restricted," while some in intelligence, law enforcement, and
high-level positions are "further restricted". The law does not apply to the president and vice president.

All federal employees are prohibited from:
  • Using official authority to influence an election.
  • Soliciting or receiving political contributions.
  • Being a candidate in a partisan election.
  • Engaging in political activity while on duty, in federal buildings, wearing a uniform, or using a government vehicle (including using government email or social media for partisan posts).

The Office of Special Counsel is charged with ENFORCING The Hatch Act but IS NOT, and neither Congress nor the Executive Branch is doing it's job.

Meanwhile every Federally funded website is parroting PARTISAN POLITICAL statements blaming Democrats for the shutdown despite the FACT that Republicans control the House, Senate and Executive.

And Kristie Nome is running Federally funded TV ads which include POLITICAL MESSAGES blaming Democrats for the shutdown which is a BLATANT VIOLATION of HATCH.

Nothing political about it.

Democrats refuse to fund the government. This is a factual statement.

Everything political about MENTIONING a POLITICAL OPPOSITION PARTY. Duh

Factual is NOT A FACTOR that would make it NOT POLITICAL.

Show me where the Hatch Act says this. Go on, make your big legal argument.

The simple fact is that Democrats blocked the spending bill. Telling people this is not a violation.

Just the other day you were crying because Trump put his name on the signs and took Bidens down when bragging about what Government was doing.

The Democrats made demands for their votes, and that is ROUTINE POLITICAL HORSE TRADING.

The RepubliCONS could have just met their demands and the BILL WOULD PASS. Since they passed the BIG UGLY bill with NO NEGOTIATION NOR DEMOCRATS' VOTES, they got what they bargained for.

Now you're just defending TRUMP'S LIE. And can't even see that's wrong.

No, pointing out your hypocritical position where you don't care when Biden is playing politics with tax $$$ like he did.

You can try to justify it all you want, at the end of the day they voted not to fund the government. Just a fact man.

This is objectively true - in shutdowns past, the fighting parties would at least pass a continuing resolution to fund government while differences are worked out in conference committee.

This time is different...the Democrats are struggling to exercise what little political power remains to save some ACA (health care) provisions won during the Obama years.  Some democrats are wavering as they look to the 2026 mid-terms.

Hatch Act violations (true or not) would not come to bear until long after this budget fight concludes, and prosecutions would just be performative, like so many other swings at Trump and his administration(s).

IF RepubliCONS wanted to negotiate the funding of Medicaid, ACA subsidies and SNAP, they had 3 MONTHS to come to the table, and REFUSED. NO ONE trusts them to negotiate in good faith NOW, cause once the CR is passed, RepubliCONS will likely just pull a DOUBLECROSS.

Fair enough, but this is hardly a GOP only tactic.   My opinion is that the Democrats are seething because of Trump/GOP policies and are lashing out in a political gamble to win the House in 2026.  Their gambit is all they have left.

In REALITY, as long as the voters are blaming the RepubliCONS for the shutdown because THEY CONTROL the government, it's a net win for Democrats.

RepubliCONS refused to negotiate with Dems over the BIG BUTT-UGLY BILL, so they OWN IT.

Party politics have a way of yielding to the real world battles in the trenches and on the streets where EBT cards are sold for drugs and cash.  The cracks (pun intended) are starting to show as disruptions ramp up.  Labour unions, school districts, infrastructure projects, etc. are all beginning to feel the squeeze.

Getting the flow of money turned back on now is a more pressing concern than health care for the undocumented (aka illegal aliens).  So just pass a CR and continue horse trading into December.

OK. So the Democrats are shutting the government down to try to get their way. No Hatch Act violations for pointing out this fact.

It is unfortunate that you believe the RepubliCON LIES that "the undocumented" get Medicaid OR ACA healthcare. They don't.

The only thing they get is Federal reimbursement for EMTALA emergency room stabilization which hospitals are required to provide for anyone who shows up to the ER with life threatening injury or illness.

ER treatment is STILL REQUIRED, it's just that now the hospital has to eat the cost.

They also get state funded health insurance and housing assistance.  Hard to get ER treatment in the U.S. if deported.  State and federal funding are a mixture of many programs with offsets that defy easy separation and are fraud magnets.

The ACA was very much contested during Obama's reign of terror...no reason it would be any different now.

Hatched green chile sounds really good about now.

Oh, and a Facebook video by a Democrat schill that is routinely embarrassed by anyone with half a brain is not a source.

Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?

Prove it. CA has funded health insurance for immigrants. Anyone else?

Personally I am glad that no one here is running around with UNTREATED EPIDEMIC CAUSING DISEASE.

Cause CITIZENS BENEFIT. Duh

Irrelevant to your specious claim that immigrants are getting free healthcare in general.

Easy to prove....I live in one of the other states.

The 14 states that currently provide health coverage to undocumented migrants are California, New York, Illinois, Washington, New Jersey, Oregon, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Rhode Island, Maine and Vermont. Washington, D.C., does likewise.

So you believe it's better FOR YOU to have people walking around sick that can INFECT YOU?

I believe it is better to remove ALL incentives for the undocumented (illegal aliens) to be in the U.S. at all...sick or not.  There are American citizens/veterans and legal immigrants who should be eligible for and receiving such benefits.

Meanwhile THE LAW allows immigrants to apply for ASYLUM and stay here until their claim is HEARD, your cavalier heartlessness notwithstanding.

Apply away...doesn't mean that five star benefits are included.   My heart is well, thank you.

Not accurate at all. You can’t just show up at the border and say asylum, you have to have some compelling case and if you entered unlawfully and are later caught you can’t just say asylum to stay.
