Nope, they’re just not that productive. It would be easier to buy from Russia and China than to enslave Canucks for the same thing we either produce locally or can source else where at discounted rates.

Canada is an economic liability. Trump is a moderate, America should charge Canada a fee when they petition for state hood.

Why do Canadians even think America is interested in Canadian natural resources to the point of political fear mongering? America has most of what it needs and for everything else we can buy abroad. To do mineral extraction and processing in Canada we would have to build out an entire industry and infrastructure. The easy to mine places have already been mined during the periods leading up to and including WW2. Canada forget that America also have vast land and resources in Alaska that we do not use because of the economic cost benefits analysis. There are simply cheaper places to buy the commodities. Even when factoring in slave labor Canadians. The Chinese who are infact slaves are our low cost producer for raw material and we still tariff them.
