Judges still have full authority to keep dangerous people in custody. The facts don’t match the rhetoric. And most people released on bail do not reoffend. According to the Department of Justice: “The vast majority of accused individuals who are released on bail comply with their conditions and attend court.” BOTTOM LINE: Poilievre supported the bail system he now attacks. He voted for it. “Catch and release” is a slogan, not a fact.
