Yes I know but like us, they selected their systems before Trump was elected. In view of our new relationship with the US do we still want ships who's primary purpose is to protect US carrier groups. Army Guy Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 well first off other than the Brits who else in NATO has a Aircraft Carrier... And the Aegis spy 7 is very capable of anti air role, anti sub role, and anti ballistic missile role...for the price we are paying we could have purchase the latest Arleigh burke destroyers at 2.2 bil (2024) with 96 missile capacity and still had money to purchase a couple of big honkin amphib ships and look at subs......or south Korea's, Sejong the Great-class destroyer at less than a bil a piece with 128 missile capacity...both have Aegis spy 7 on board, plus many other systems... Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

The Brits do but their carriers are stuck with the F-35B because they were built to only handle STOVL fighters. Wonder if they are regretting that. Quote

Wonder if they are regretting that. Their pick limits their aircraft available to them, currently F-35B is a good aircraft and will be for decades to come, however i'm not sure about any of the Gen 6 aircraft being able to land on them...which in another 10 years or so they will be in production...that being said not sure if they the aircraft carriers can not be modified taking out the sky ramp, or if they are long enough to launch a Gen 6 fighter....
