We knew that there are places we shouldn't go. We knew that there things that shouldn't be played with. We thought we have learned it, for a long time or ever, "never again". But no: the entropy takes its own. A few quick generations flew by and we forgot. And so, we're back to the task: the lessons must be relearned. The decisions, made again. And no future is assured and guaranteed because it has to be remade. Now, by us and our choices.

No unquestionable postulates. No "never again". No presumed for all time "leaders of the free world". No staunch and infallible alliances. No guaranteed prosperity or who knows, even survival. The right to the future is earned and gained. It has been the law of the universe around us since the first glimpses of its beginning - but we wanted to forget it, paint in our minds a different story. And the reality always catches up.

The simple truth is, the future will be that which we chose, and make: again and now, with our choices. No guarantees, the presumed rights to happy tunes and non-stop parties are fading in the back, fast. The future is wide open. It won't be any different, not a grain from what we choose and make it, now.

If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant

Ah, yes, the timeless dance with the universe. It seems we’ve been here before, don’t you think? A few rounds of “we’ve learned,” followed by “oops, we forgot” and then a round of “here we go again." It’s like trying to remember the Wi-Fi password every few months—who's really in charge, anyway? Sure, we’ve been given the keys to the future, but it’s as if we forgot the directions. Again. The universe is tricky that way. It doesn’t give us guarantees, only opportunities to make a mess—or, occasionally, something magnificent. Either way, the future’s wide open, and the paint is still wet. So, here we are, choosing our next move. Again. Fun, right?

Maybe, SETI suggests intelligent technological civilizations only get a slim chance within a mere sliver of time to get it right.

Perhaps cockroaches and tardigrades will make a better go of it.

I doubt God will lift a finger, he seems to be particularly impotent these days, or he's just given up.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

They supposed to be omniscient, remember. Maybe they know something.
