If Donald Trump said "I like milk" there are people in legacy media who would have said "Trump likes chopping the breasts off of pregnant women to drink from them" a few years ago.

Seriously, when he told NATO members that they had to spend 2% of their GDP on defence - just like they all committed to - somehow that was turned into "He's threatening them all, and they all hate him!!!", but then he makes all these "Canada as the 51st state" jokes, and CNN doesn't notice? He even wanted a poll...

When Trump said "Russia, if you're listening..." that sparked outrage from the Dems, CNN, CTV et al, and a 3-yr investigation from the FBI, but constantly saying "Governor Trudeau" warrants nothing from CNN? MSNBC? WashPo? NYT?

Shouldn't they be saying "TRUMP THREATENED TO NUKE OTTAWA!!!" right about now? How are they failing to twist this into something worse than what it is? It's honestly very bad, and they're not even talking about it. WTF? Why is everyone in the media letting Trump constantly talk about Canada like that? It defies all logic.

If the Cultist Narrative Network/Cultist Broadcasting Corporation gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

They probably love the idea, in private, given that much of Canada thinks like they do - it'd be another 54 electoral votes or even more.

Is that what Cali gets? They have our same population.

Do you agree?

No. The media still takes every opportunity to twist Trump's comments into something that they're not.

So what do you think is happening then ?

I have no idea. That's why I'm asking.

Yup. Canada has a couple million more people, so they'd possibly even get to 55 electoral votes.

Considering Canadian people would never vote to join America, it would almost certainly be a hostile takeover (like Austria circa 1938). There is literally no chance Canada will get any electrical votes, and they will become a territory of the US similar to Puerto Rico.

^this.

The bar for Trump is low, in the MSM. If Biden had called for Canada to become the 51st state, people would lose their minds.

I agree. That's why trump keeps trying to troll even harder with more outlandish nonsense. I'm done with caring about what he says since 100% of it is low-information horse shit. My intent is to only react to actual policy actions and outcomes.

Canada's staying just as it is, so there's nothing for a woketard like you to get worked up about.

How frustrated you must have been during the last 4 years.

Good thing Trump will be back in the WH later this month. ;)

Huh?

Do you think that CTV and CBC - who completely failed to notice Biden's Alzheimer's and still haven't noticed how all these current wars flared up because of Biden - would care if he talked about Canada becoming the 51st state?

  1. If Obama said it, it would be hailed as a warm southern embrace
  2. If Biden said it, nothing could compel CBC and CTV to say it was somehow wrong to say such a thing.

False. The media is never twisting his endless stream of ill-considered asinine bullshit to sound smart or reasonable.

The other side of this is that people aren't reacting to Trump in the same way. I feel that they're expecting things to get better, and they're expecting him to make it happen.

They're scared. They see their ratings dropping like lead and have realized the public isn't buying their endless lecturing and fear-porn.

Also, to your actual question: Americans don't spend time thinking about Canada. For-profit media corporations aren't going to waste much time trying to generate interest on the topic of colonizing canada.

The real question is why is a political forum mostly made up of Canadians obsessed with US politics not talking a lot about their favorite US president casually taking about colonizing Canada?

🤷‍♂️ Trump has a 3 point plan, and Elon Musk is Trump's Joe Bowers?

Mike Judge is very smart and an incisive observer of humanity and society. The funny/not funny thing about a world of Idiocracy is that even in an excellent and prescient piece of satire, the smart creator just can't understand dumb people. Even in this fantasy we imagine that dumb people will recognize that they are not equipped to do certain things and will look to someone smart for help, to solve problems. Because that's the logical thing to do: get help from experts.

But people like @Nationalist prove every day that it simply isn't the case. In reality, they will pretend that the problems don't exist and will ignore and dismiss the brilliant and learned people offering solutions. Because "Rah! Rah! Rah!"

Well...mostly because, unless you hadn't noticed, Canada is already colonized. Trump's not about to even try to make Canada a state. Its just a jab at the spinless little twerp we have as PM right now.
