Joking a side I suspect that this is in anticipation of a spring election. Jaggers gets his pension come February and may very well pull a budget election. I think this is supposed to soften people up for that

I think they said the GST will be eliminated by 14 December. Thing is, why not 1 Dec. Many people will already a]have spent for Christmas s\ by now but for sure before 14 Dec.
