I'm my view, "sub-nation" is a misnomer. They may have been nation's...sort of...but TODAY this is Canada. Our nation has the capability to be wealthy and stable. All we have to do is take it. We have almost everything we need. Food...natural resources...technology...strong people.

Instead we squander all of those for what?

A destructive sense of faux morality.

It's not that I don't like the posts. It's that I don't agree with the method of discussion. 

It's a waste of time for me to talk to someone who doesn't speak English for example. So why would I? Why would I  discussion with someone who just sees the discussion as a contest?

We shouldn't have to protect trade. But if we do, I'd rather our navy escort our merchant ships, than have them fighting someone else's war.

The China question. Why should I want to maintain a monopoly for microchips in Taiwan? If that's the case...stupid us. We should immediately build microchip factories for our own needs.

It may sound extremist but, Canada needs to stop worrying about nations that have little to no effect on Canada. We should worry about our own nation first and foremost.

There are bad people who do bad things... your argument is, so what if my neighbors house is being burned down and his family raped on the streets. Not my business! I have my own family here watching TV with me to worry about. Just shut the blinds. 

So... the China/Taiwan example was just one of thousands, more than either of us could ever map out in our lifetimes, to show the complexities of international trade. 

You keep saying you are not pushing some extreme isolationist view... but now you want to cut off all trade with Taiwan and make stuff ourselves.
