Well, not having seen the swirly piece of plastic I guess I should reserve the right to change my opinion, BUT... GIVE ME A F--KING BREAK!!! "this is my jihad"...SERIOUSLY!?!?!? I consider myself a moderate, tolerant and generally respectful person...but this kind of shit is the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. OOPS! Now I've done it...I said 'camel' which can only mean one thing...I am offending muslims because there are camels in muslim countries! A pox on my family and may a fiery jihad descend upon me... F--KING PATHETIC!!!! FTA Quote
GostHacked Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 So I should not eat any ice cream from burger king? Not that the ice cream is the greatest in any way shape or form... this is total retardedness. Quote
geoffrey Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I can't believe Burger King caved on this. I guess I might think about it if people were purposing Jihads on me. As far as I know a Jihad is a threat of violence and this is extortion. Lock 'em up. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

Black Dog Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Dude, we get it: you hate Muslims. Can you talk about anything else? The offending lid was spotted in a branch in Park Royal last week by business development manager Rashad Akhtar, 27, of High Wycombe. He was not satisfied by the decision to withdraw the cones and has called on Muslims to boycott Burger King. He said: "This is my jihad. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? If you spin it one way to the right you are offending Muslims." As soon as I read that last quote, it hit me: this is a piss take. Quote

JerrySeinfeld Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 Dude, we get it: you hate Muslims. Can you talk about anything else? You missed the obvious point: It's not about who hates muslims. It's about who muslims hate. Quote

Well BD, anyone that demands that a business changes their product lines because a swirl tilted one way looks like the symbol for Allah is acting completely irrationally. When he declares a jihad because he's so angery about this swirl, I've got to say, this guy is a complete freak. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
Biblio Bibuli Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I can't believe Burger King caved on this. What about this guy (Lance Saunders) who wants Toronto's Air Canada Centre stadium to stop selling peanuts because his son is allergic to the aroma of them. Nuts or what!? How long before Muslims take a cue from this and start demanding that pork sausages be banned in public places, I wonder. Thats actually kind of sad, but I mean, the other 20,000 or so customers do have a right to eat their peanuts right. Poor kid though. Slowly, but surely pushing their agenda upon us. Yeah, just like those damned Christians! Gerry, do you have anything to actually say on issues besides stating "you guys are worse." I'm not even saying that Christian fanatics and Muslim fanatics are the same. I'm just comparing them. It seems to me that, at a practical level, there are too many Muslim fanatics prone to violence. (In general, Christian fanatics are not prone to violence.) At a "root cause" level, it seems to me that there are too many (ordinary, non-fanatical) Muslims who have no idea what the "scientific method" is. Think about it: if this guy is so devout, why is he eating in Burger King? I'm pretty sure Whoppers aren't halal. Basicaly, in the wake of the Danish cartoon controversy, this guy wanted to see how far he could push the cultural sensitivity buttons (and maybe wind people up). Mission accomplished. Quote

Christians (ordinary, non-fanatical) generally follow the "scientific method". The Christians in the US are not advocating the society change for them. They are asking society not to change. I do see a difference don't you? I'd argue that the homosexuals are more like the Muslims in this case, pushing for societial change just to satisfy a very small minority group. Agreed that too many Muslims are prone to violence. Living in societies like theirs destroys any respect for induvidual rights or human life (too much Ayn Rand for me lately?). You'll probably see in many totalitarian regimes, like most Muslims live under, violence is significantly higher, or at least sentiment to violence is much more positive. I don't blame the religion, I blame the political system their religion has become. I don't see your point about the scientific method?
