Lost my faith in the justice system in Canada after reading this.

The Iranian born Arash Missaghi, Predatory fraudster abused justice system for 20 years, form a gang of mafia, stealing tens of millions of dollars over 20 years from hard working individuals with tricks and avoided justice for 20 years till one of his victims sent him to hell. How was he able to do this? By hiring Expensive skilled lawyers. Those damn immoral lawyers who would sell their souls for money.

“The primary problem with Mr. Missaghi is that he never should have been in a position to exploit the civil justice system in the first place, because he should have been in prison,” said Peter Smiley, a lawyer for clients who, like the gunman, sued Missaghi for fraud.

One reason that has frustrated the resolution of these claims is the involvement of lawyers and the assertion of lawyer-client privilege over key documents.”

Canada’s court system wasn’t capable of corralling Missaghi who, over decades was accused of frauds, other crimes, and faced lawsuits and complaints but seemed unstoppable, incorrigible, and unrepentant.

This is really disgusting how this man ran rings around our so-called justice system for so long. We know that if the person that shot him and his partner hadn't also killed himself, he would have been the only one to face a lengthy prison sentence.

Judges and attorneys have great compensation packages, out of public's pocket. Anything else matters? Why?

Lawyers, like insurance, are hated by everyone....until you need them.

Judges are bound but the rules of law, sometimes it works for you, sometimes it works against you..

If the result is not to your liking ,clearly, it is not going to get any better.... for you . There is only one system (indigenous excepted). LOL

Unless you are very aware of the details of the law and circumstances of the case and situation you are uninformed.

Far to many people complain about the overview but do not know the details.

In the case of Arash Missaghi, what we (and the newspaper) know is general. The details are what has kept this miscreant in Canada. The laws that applied for him are applicable to all.

Oh and, he is far from the exception for keeping criminals and unwanted in Canada.
