TLDR - our military is shot, the RCMP is failing and rudderless, csis is useless and we have no cyber security at all

,The threats however have piled up. Foreign countries have numerous operatives inside canada and are organizing riots as well as covert attacks.

Basically we are now a low hanging fruit for anyone.

And the article suggests that if trump gets elected democracy in the states could be unstable and we could have issues there as well. Bit far fetched but it's the left's go to these days.

Unfortunately it doesn't offer much in the way of solutions.  Basically "Somebody Otter DOOOO somethin'!  Which isn't wrong but isn't terribly helpful either.

THe article is basically calling for a complete redo of the RCMP, miltiary and a revamp and reboot of CSIS with more cyber security as well, and we don't have the people OR the money to do any of that.

Basically we're kinda hooped at this point.

We are a democracy. If people are upset by a minor tax on carbon, do you seriously expect them to make the sacrifices required for them to "DOOO somethin'?"

We should get rid of army, what a more stupid job to learn to kill people? It is not safe to have an army because we are a threat to other countries and be a target in case of conflict

Cannot be ignored??

Canada's defence is not ignored, we all recognize it. The problem is no Canadians are wiling to work for it.

People like me and Army Guy are fewer and fewer. We made a career of service and defending Canada. Most people talk about it and think someone like me and Army Guy (and a handful of others of course) will do the sacrifice and they just hang back and complain.

IF they can't DOOOOO something with the billions of dollars in carbon tax they've already collected, why would we trust them with even more  money, and why are we paying the tax at all?

Democracy doesn't mean "rob the people of their money and fail to deliver".

As security threats mount, the holes in Canada’s defences can no longer be ignored

The biggest threat to our security has been how our allies have regarded so many of our dictators as friends.  We've been ignoring that at everyone's peril for decades.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Our dictators? You mean justin? And how is that a threat to us, he's already got control of our country.  What are you even talking about?

The Carbon tax is paid back to the people through the Climate Action Incentive Payment.

To build a viable defence for Canada will require hundreds of billions of dollars. Since the only country that could actually invade Canada is the USA, the annual cost to prevent that without resorting to nuclear weapons, would be in the neighbourhood of over a trillion dollars annually. It would require conscription and we all know how that went over the last two times the Canadian government did that. Unlike those two examples,  we would need peace time conscription. How long would a government last implementing that? Most Canadians would rather surrender. If Russia invaded, it would invoke article 5 and nuclear anihilation for all of us.  Anyone who believes there could be a war between Russia and NATO without a strategic nuclear exchange, is naive.

So, the Canadian taxpayer has to ask, "What is the point?"

So, that would mean Mr. Poilieve is going to have to fight the next election from a prison cell? That is silly. Mr. Poiliveve will be our Prime Minister in 18 months. In two years, everything will be fixed to your satisfaction. Be patient, my friend.?
