myata Posted November 19, 2023 Report Posted November 19, 2023 Let's count the rate and ratio of federal and provincial offices and services that at this time, perform their intended function at a decent standard of effectiveness and quality, let's say in the second or third tier of the developed world. Clearly, immigration is not one of them, but what is? Should we, citizens be curious about this number - so that we wouldn't all of a sudden wake up one morning in the third world? Immigration has been problematic since Pearson days. You can certainly blame him for the last eight years of ever-increasing numbers of immigrants, foreign workers, foreign student-workers, and refugees. For years now we've been told by those who support high immigration that it's a huge boon to our economy. Well, as the numbers have grown the economy has stagnated, and is now failing. Our standard of living has been going steadily down compared to other Western countries. And our social cohesion has been breaking down as our sense of shared values and identity disappears. As foreign communities here have grown in strength and power they've flexed their electoral muscles, not on behalf of what they believe will improve life in Canada but on behalf of their former homelands. Which is why we see Trudeau desperately trying to please Muslim voters without going too far so as to turn off their more traditionalist base. It's also why instead of seeing increased economic ties with the world's most populace nation Trudeau has spent the last eight years catering to Sikh separatists in Canada in order to earn their loyalty and votes, even though this has earned India's enmity. And how will this proceed if such a high volume of immigrants continues? How much more electoral power will they have to vote in governments that favor their homelands rather than what is best for Canada? Edited November 19, 2023 by I am Groot 1 Quote

Immigration was a minor problem at best till 2006. There were issues but none serious. 2006 major changes were introduced and immigration became a net positive and it's something ALL parties at the time agreed we got right, and there was much satisfaction in the immigrant AND natural communities with how it was going. You didn't hear about 'the immigration problem' much in harper's day, we brought in a lot but we did it right and they integrated and were successful. That situation deteriorated rapidly under trudeau. And today we've got a real problem. Doubling immigration in 7 years was a bad idea. Quote

He likely means the left wing attitude that immigration is an unconstrained good. That it does incredible, wonderful things for our economy. That huge numbers of immigrants are absolutely necessary for a wide variety of reasons for which no proof is ever offered. And that anyone who questions it, regardless of how high the numbers are, is a racist, xenophobic white supremacist.
