You’re creating a false equivalence.
Not all classified documents are alike. An aide to Trump recently reported that Trump wrote out to do lists for her on the back of classified marked documents. But these were not ultra top secret nuclear weapons secrets.

Ysah the docs in the garage were only used to wipe the dipstick.

Unlike Trump who refused to return the docs he stole and lied about not having more, Joe returned ALL the ones found in his possession, even though he IS POTUS NOW and could have declassified them. Duh

The difference is, Trump has NO RESPECT for the danger to LIVES of miss storing classified information.

ALL he cares about is having souvenirs.

So if a criminal returns the things he stole after he gets caught then he's not a criminal? I'm pretty sure that's not how it works :)

And even if he declassified them now they would still have been classified when he had them unlawfully.

I’m pretty sure that you haven’t read the law.  In fact, I’m certain that you haven’t read the law, because if you did, then you would know that it is illegal to retain or possess classified documents ONLY if it is done KNOWINGLY and WILLFULLY. This is why President Biden’s lawyers returned the documents immediately, as soon as the lawyers discovered them.

I'm pretty sure the problem here isn't with my knowledge :)

So he didn't know he put them there?  Lets be clear - this wasn't just something that was laying  around his office - this was at his home and obviously he moved them from a place of work and deliberately put them there.

And it's not like he came forward and said "oh i found these the other day', my understanding is that someone else found them.

You mean after he got caught.

Sure, and no surprise they let him slide on it because 'not trump'. But he still knowingly and willfully did not return the documents when he was supposed to. As i understand it those files were moved there AFTER he left office and his personal office changed, but your argument is he accidentally closed his eyes and accidentally moved classified documents and accidentally put them in his personal garage with his corvette.

At the end of the day he broke the law. And returning the documents after getting caught wouldn't change that.

Mere possession of classified documents is not a crime.

I see you’re very selective about Biden but not Pence, who did the same as Biden.

When the Trump document scandal came to light, both Biden and Pence had attorneys go through their documents to look for any classified documents.  When they were found, it was their attorneys who immediately arranged for their return.  There was no effort to conceal.  No evidence that either man was aware that they were in possession of these documents.

Did he knowingly remove it? Yes.

Did he place it in that location knowingly? Yes.

Knowing he did that, did e return it when required? No.

Is that a crime? yes.

Thanks for playing.

How do you know that he knowingly removed the document? He knowingly had a box, but there’s no evidence that he knew the box had a document marked Classified inside it.

There are many levels of Classified documents. “Obama is traveling to Turkey next week” could be a Classified document, although two weeks later, the secret no longer matters. OTOH, the description of our nuclear weapons systems and their weaknesses and their designs and security systems… that is extremely sensitive information and that is the type of information which Trump retained.

Yeash.

You truly live in a world of make-believe and fantasy.  You make up any lie that fits your narrative and repeat it over and over until you think it’s true. But that’s not how facts work. Facts are stubborn things, said President John Adams.

I speak the truth.  Biden admitted he had taken those documents during his time in office, and it actually took an FBI search to find them all

https://www.politifact.com/article/2023/jan/25/i-have-no-regrets-tracking-the-joe-biden-classifie/

Sorry - pretending that the truth isn't the truth won't help you,

What HASN'T been answered is 'who else had access to those files during the 7 years they were out of the white house".

Who did he show them to? He was VP not Pres so he couldn't declassify them.

So lets be clear. At some point during his time as vp he took classified documents to his office. And then at some point either moved some from there or took some directly to his home - and some were found in more than one place in his house after a search indicating it wasn't just one stuffed in teh bottom of a box he brought home or the like.

He's never even tried to say otherwise, he admits he took them, He claims he thought all had been returned but forgot some basically.

He committed a crime They decided to let it slide but he did commit one.

Sorry if that's inconvenient for you.
