The thing YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND is that the governors of Republican states like Texas buy their homeless people bus tickets to send them to California because they're too cheap to deal with them as PEOPLE. And CA is too humane to send them BACK where they came from.

So far, there is ZERO evidence of that happening. Red states have unusual ways of dealing with our homeless. (a) We don't pass policies that CREATE homelessness, (b) we have a lot of JOBS where the homeless can get off their fat asses and work and earn a home, something you blue state idi0ts could learn from.

Florida DID send a bunch of illegal alien ANIMALS to CaliFAGula, mostly because those animals have little value here and frankly we were sick of putting up with the drugs, the crime and the increased welfare  spending. Let Newsome spend in deficit for those animals.

The parts of California that want to secede from the state are wonderful and they want to stay that way.

I've been to SD, SF, Sacramento, Anaheim and obviously LA, but I haven't been to California for close to 20 years.

The whole point is that California, specifically its larger cities, is much worse off than it should be.

The contention of the OP is that the entire state (all 100% of it) is a filthy shithole with needles littering every square inch of it. The OP has never been to the state and paints the whole state with the same biased, unrealistic paintbrush

It's Fla vs California here.

Obviously not every inch of California has syringes and human feces all over it, or is rife with crime, but huge portions of their larger cities are rat-infested shitholes.

DAs are intentionally letting violent criminals out and not prosecuting shoplifting to the extent that businesses are closing. You gotta admit, that seems intentionally harmful.

"intentionally harmful"

No, I disagree. I view it from someone who works in government and knows intimately the constraints. It seems vastly more logical that the police are simply stretched too thin and recruiting/hiring more police is not that simple. This is not some game on your phone where you click on a + sign and magically, more people come forth and everybody is ok with the greater tax burden. It is notoriously difficult to recruit and hire new police and even more difficult to get folks to be ok with their taxes going up to pay for it.

Having been to SF 4 times in the last 5 years.. the only neighborhood that would quality as a rat-infested shithole is the Tenderloin district which encompasses 224 acres. Now, is every neighborhood brand new and shiny? No. It is expensive to maintain older buildings. Also, densely packed urban areas are not spotlessly clean.. that is just the nature of it.

If you want to absolve DAs of guilt by blaming a lack of police officers (which is not a legitimate argument - the fact that there are so many violent criminals to release is proof that the police did their job) then I guess I need to remind you - that is the fault of leftists for pimping their divisive BLM rhetoric and then following it up with "defund police".

Leftist leaders just can't stop saying and doing things that hurt their own constituents. If they're actively trying to ruin the places that they live in then they are doing a wonderful job of it.

Shoplifting, violent crime... The Dems are putting an end to the rule of law and that's not healthy for a thriving society.

When people start to feel like they should get into gangs instead of colleges, if they feel like they should invest in guns instead of small businesses, your society is in sharp decline.

No kidding. Problem was only worsened by Dem leaders calling out the "Defund the police" meme, an anti-cop message coming from the very top that would make most young potential recruits dicks curl in...

It goes beyond that. They also know that they will be under society's microscope like no other. The simplest of mistakes will get them vilified and then they will politicos like those on this forum and either hailing them as a hero or blaming all of society's ills on them. A thankless job that puts you in a lose-lose situation at time. When interviewed anonymously.. this is what keeps prospective candidates from applying.

When it comes to shoplifting.. it does come down to amount of police and the fact that the storeowners can't do anything other than take note, call the cops, etc. They face the possibility of criminal charges or lawsuits if they come from behind the counter and tackle the suspect.

That has always been the case. What I indicated is the problem was made even worse by irresponsible comments and actions which mainly left-leaning officials piled on. Even here in Canada, where we now have reports of much higher understaffing. It's not so much an extra burden on the taxpayer if they cannot fill the roster.

When it comes to shoplifting, DAs decide where the threshold for prosecuting people is. If they decide that it's at $1,000, people can make a lot of money waltzing out with $500 worth of stuff at a time.

https://nypost.com/2023/07/25/shoplifting-is-big-business-for-organized-theft-not-to-feed-families/

Quote

Retail theft in America has grown to a $94 billion epidemic, according to the National Retail Federation — a staggering 90% increase since 2018. Retailers say that the problem gained momentum about a decade ago, when states began decriminalizing low-level shoplifting, raising the value of goods that a person must steal to enable prosecutors to bring felony charges. More than two-thirds of states now treat shoplifting as a misdemeanor if someone boosts less than $1,000 in goods, and 15 states have raised their limit to $1,500 or more. More than 70% of surveyed retailers reported that shoplifting spiked in their stores after these changes.

Go ahead and explain that away.

Oooh, there's more:

Quote

Bail reforms that free without bond those arrested for shoplifting have also contributed to the problem. An official of the Association of Certified Anti–Money Laundering Specialists says that retail theft is now “a low-risk and high-reward line of business.”

Who's the party of "no cash bail" again?

Explain to me how you can have a society where owning a store is now a license to lose money...

This is awesome for online retailers who shall remain unnamed, who have massive lobbyist bucks. Covid policies also came at the expense of smaller store-owners and in favour of online retailers and big box stores.

Are there any big gov't political parties in Canada and the US? Parties that hate small businesses and the middle class? Parties run by politicians who kiss up to countries like China, or to sleazy corporations like Burisma and SNC Lavalin? Geez, who could that be?

Does the vax work, or did covid deaths go up by 30% between 2021 and 2022? Does it really matter? Big Pharma already got paid.

Buddy, we explain all of this shit to leftards well in advance of getting to the point where the wheels are falling off.

You never have the foresight to understand what idjitotic leftard policies will do, you can never understand it when we explain it to you, and even with the benefit of hindsight leftards still can't see the G-D writing on the wall.

I could just as easily explain all of this to a brick. At least bricks aren't famous for sealioning and lying, even if they're masters of stonewalling.

No.. not quite. In 1985, there was almost zero chance that your actions as a police officer would get you on the news and have society as a whole weighing in. Now these days, unless you live in a somewhat small town the microscope is on. Teachers face the same problem. They are blamed for all of society's ills. They are just convenient whipping boys.

Budddyyyy, there's plenty in there on shoplifting if you wanna pop your head out of your ass for a second.

In fact, there's far more than you can handle, isn't there...?

Now, no conspiratorial thinking, no links, no opinions... lets see you step out of your echo chamber. Why would a DA increase the amount from $500 to $1000 (just an example).. only practical reasons allowed. Can you do this or does the shield of anonymity keep you from doing this?

I equate it to the bum that talks to himself outside of our office. There is nothing that one can say to this person to get them out of their fantasy world. May as well start talking to the wall.

Buddy, I don't have anything personal against you. I obviously don't even know you.

Why don't you just read up on this topic, think hard about what it all means, and then form your own opinion.

Don't think of this in terms of "I really need to say some stuff to defend my political party", think in terms of "This issue has a very extreme effect on my society, and I need to think of this from a human POV and turn off politics for just a minute."

Are you in favour of shoplifting as big business or aren't you? It's pretty simple.

I will play your game but i laid my challenge down first. Give me one practical reason why a DA would increase the amount of retail goods from $500 to $1000.. This is the test of whether you are rational/realistic or just someone that likes to be adamant/loud/outspoken.

do you know how I formed this opinion? Talking directly in person to shop owners and knowing the struggle that cities out west have had in recruiting police. So spare me the usual drivel about CNN... you have watched more CNN than I ever have by leaps and bounds.
