Unassailable? LOL. Without the raw resources it imports and the finished products it exports the US economy would shrink rapidly, and with it the ability to pay for all those military toys. Let China control the world's natural resources and they won't have to use their military to beat the US they'll be able to buy it out and dictate terms. Guest Posted June 17, 2023 Report Posted June 17, 2023 It's psychology 101. Some of the things we most despise about others, are a reflection of the innermost things about ourselves that we fear. Probably not shocking that Trump's ease with silencing opposition and gaslighting it at times even while lying through his teeth, is a typical ruse used by the far left. A lot of his behaviors echo theirs. I can see someone as far left, based on how badly that they hate him. Reasonable and mature people just think he is a loud mouth and can be a bit of a jack***. Those for whom he literally reflects the behavior of in many ways, hate him to the point of wishing him death and even inciting other to carry it out, yet denouncing people using terms like "Lets go Brandon". When pressed, of course, "Trump is different!" Pressed even further, and you now have introduced yourself to somehow being in support of MAGA. He is a very divisive figure, but has his perks. I can quickly figure out who are extremists, based on his followers that are a bit too loyal, and detractors that are a bit too angry. Usually a low IQ will follow either crowd. Most of the rest, just want someone who is a leader and knows what they are doing o_O Quote

SpankyMcFarland Posted June 17, 2023 Report Posted June 17, 2023 Trump is what happens when we despise professional politicians. A large part of his appeal is that he’s ‘not a politician’ for crying out loud, like running a county is something that requires no previous experience in the field. Put that in the mouth of any other person doing a particular job, e.g. a plumber, surgeon or pilot, and see how it sounds. Quote ‘How small we make our worlds. Gather them in, tighten them up into little castles of fear.’

Criticizing politicians is well and good - we should be doing that constantly - but despising them as a class is something else entirely. The difference is whether we have a basic level of respect for them doing a vitally necessary and fiendishly difficult job for all of us which can very rarely be done well at the highest level by a newbie with no background in the field. These days, a certain sort of voter prefers somebody who claims, ridiculously, to not be a politician, i.e. to have no previous political track record. Some of the key skills to master are emotional, e.g. restraint and patience. Even truly successful businessmen can be found to lack those qualities if they enter politics at the top.
