China sees Canada as a “high-priority target” and employs “incentives and punishment” as part of a vast influence network directed at legislators, business executives and diaspora communities in this country, according to a top-secret intelligence assessment from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
The CSIS report is an overview of Chinese government foreign interference in Canada, ranging from investigating a Conservative MP’s relatives in China to harassing a mainland Chinese student in Canada who publicly supported Hong Kong’s democracy movement.
The report warned that Beijing is the “foremost perpetrator” of foreign interference in Canada. Its agents are unconcerned about repercussions, the report says, because of the lack of obstacles such as a foreign-influence registry of the kind established in the United States and Australia.

And Justin is dragging his heels on producing such a registry. Think maybe he's hoping for a few more 'donations' before the next election?

It's interesting to see how some politicians seem to be their own worst enemies, constantly making decisions that damage their party's reputation and support base. Perhaps they should consider forming a new political party focused on self-sabotage.

Why would they? Most of their supporters won't punish them for their misdeeds and crimes so what's to stop them?

Seriously even if justin loses the next election, look at everything he got away with. Within months of being elected he got bribed and got away with it, and he's gotten away with every corruption since as well as turning canadians against one another and trashing our finances.

Why would he do anything different? He's been rewarded for his bad behavior.

So, in a way, you are saying that he does not care at all about the Liberal Party, just about himself.

Well i think that much is obvious but even the liberal party doesn't care. Why would they? They've been in power just as long. It's not like we havent seen plenty of them break the laws as well.

Because, in terms of affecting the party, it did and does affect the party, the elections in Ontario, in my opinion spoke to that, or this is me not being an expert in politics again?! ?

Different party. The liberal party in ontario is not connected to the federal party at all. They just share a name. And they died because they picked a horrible leader and had a horrible platform.

Although it should be noted that whatever federal gov't there is - ontario has a habit of picking the other for it's provincial leadership.  If the cpc is in federally, they tend to go liberal provincially. If the libs are in federally, they tend to go conservative provincially.  Not always - but a lot.

I comprehend your point, however, my perception is that if any federal political party performs inadequately and becomes overly idealistic, it is likely that voters across all provinces will express their discontent by penalizing the party at the first polls through a sort of report card. They punish the brand, even if the brand is separate from provincial vs federal. is that a fair assumption?

There may be a little truth to that - but i don't think as much as you might think and i guarantee the feds don't care at all.

Interestingly bc's RIGHT wing party was called the liberals for quite some time, and the bad record of federal libs didn't hurt them much.  They just changed their name tho, so maybe they were worried about it after all :)

Well if you look at Atlantic Canada for instance, most elected provincial parties are conservative, and yet federally they are all red...Ontario the same, and Alberta, were NDP provincially and conservative federally.. not sure what they are now...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Atlantic canada believes the libs federally are the only ones who'll give them money for their crashed fishing industry, without realizing that the liberals were the ones who helped crash it.

Ontario tends to put in provincially the opposite of what they had federally.  not always but usually.

and alberta was ndp for ONE term, and unless notley wins again right now which isn't looking good that was it

The feds are obviously getting help from the chinese. Its enough to help them tip things to help the libs win juuuuust enough.  And the libs are obivously ok with it.

One term is enough, how do you go from the right to the far left...even if it was for one term... the extreme jump is hard to explain...

Canadians are good with that, the majority are not saying anything right now, It's been splashed all over the media,  i mean how much more serious can you get, election tampering, threating an MP family, Chinese police stations, major Chinese mafia wholesaling drugs into the country, , foreign ownership of housing, laundering dirty money... Canadians just shrug that shit off, pass me another beer it's the play offs...like most major issues in this country.. The majority just don't care... we deserve all this shit and more...

OTOH Atlantic Canada could believe that Canada should foot a bill for its failure to take responsiblity for the way the federal government cocked up the management of the fish that so many relied on.

How many Canadian coastal communities hollowed out by fisheries collapses (we're a lot like canaries that should be telling the rest of you something...) will it take for non-coastal Canadians to demand better? There's very few left that are even barely surviving.

I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,
a liberal, oh fanatical criminal

It's the same federal gov't that they voted for so...

It's not a bad question.
