I don’t think the segregated, disenfranchised African Americans of 1964 would settle for that.

Sure they would. We all would. The civil rights act was in place, and any deviation from it means penalties for the violators.

I get you… but the Voting Rights Act became law in 1965 and when Dr. King was assassinated in 1968, all Hell broke loose. This should tell us clearly that African Americans were not happy with their treatment in 1964 or 1965.

Then again, the Vietnam was wasn’t a massive clusterf*ck in 1964 and there were a lot of positive things about that time… except the Beatles really didn’t get good until 67-68. Imagine living in a world where the only Beatles music was “I want to hold your hand.”

You misunderstand. I'm not saying LiTERALLY go back to 1964. I'm saying go back to the same spirit of 1964 (or 65, for that matter). There is no Vietnam War, MLK is in heaven, half the Beatles are dead, but the Civil Rights Act is still in place, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
