Is the term “terrorism” worn out? Has the West and especially the USA overused the word without taking a close look at their own actions?

Now this is the way to discuss terrorism & the West's hypocrisy in claiming Russian "terrorism".

@ClareDalyMEP
"There is nothing constructive about the pot calling the kettle black. If the EU is going to start naming "state sponsors of terrorism," let's do it... Let's recognize West-sponsored terrorism too, and make sure ????????
and their pals ?????? & the rest are all on the list."

Hope the fence-sitter [https://twitter.com/EvaKBartlett/status/1582809205324800001] will learn from Daly.

Unfortunately, the western system isn’t working as expected. Just ask Canadian truckers if Trudeau is an authoritarian or if democracy is the panacea we’ve been led to believe is.

The west’s hubris has gone amok and the proof is that people advocating for peace like Clare Daly are called naïve or idealists. What would you suggest?

To remain opting for the status quo which evidently is in a free fall and not working?  Shouldn’t now be the time to try something different?

This is moral equivocation - a shoddy logical construct.  It's fair to criticize Justin Trudeau, or the truckers, or both, but if you want to call Trudeau an "authoritarian" of the same stripes as Vladimir Putin, you're being silly.

Naive and idealistic are not words that are generally used to describe Clare Daly.  If you were being generous, you might call her an anti-establishment activist.  If you were being fair, you'd call her a deluded conspiracy theorist following all of the usual politics of the brand, including but not limited to being consistently pro-Russia and pro-dictator any chance she gets.  This is the MEP that places like China, Russia, Belarus, Nicaragua and Iran like to feature in their domestic news because she's pretty much just a mouthpiece of everything they want to hear.  ?

The title of this thread is too long, but the subject needs to be addressed.

But first,  Moonbox, Luz did not call Trudeau an authoritarian, nor compare him to Putin.  Why not debate what was said rather than what you think was inferred.

There was a time when I was a cheerleader for the USA.  They could do no wrong in my eyes.  Wow, it feels strange to even type that.  But I’ve come to realize that most western governments no longer really serve their people.

The US is the worst of all.  The  leaders hide their true agendas, pay lip service to the people when it’s election season, and from one political party to the next, the insidious agenda is basically the same.

The CIA has terrorized people around the world, tortured Americans and started wars.  The FBI has become weaponized to achieve Biden’s domestic goals.  Americans are stuck in what’s become an evil empire.  At this stage, the only answer is for America to go bankrupt.  The upcoming economic depression may do just that.

No empire lasts forever.  There will be a day of reckoning for these scumbags.  My mantra these days is, “Let Justice be done though the heavens fall.”

I never said she did.  Those were two separate responses to two separate posts.  The Trudeau claim was the OP's, not Clare Daly's and that's the first thing I responded to.

You can certainly make an argument that the US doesn't have clean hands.  We have enough examples of their failed foreign policy and present-day Iran is of their own making.  The rest of what you're saying is just goofy conspiracy nonsense.

You whine and cry about the FBI being a weapon for Biden, while they investigate his son and are appear to be close to laying charges against him.  These contradictions never seem to register for you folks.

Well, if not authoritarian, how would you describe someone who freezes the bank accounts of protestors?  Is there a better way to silence people than through their wallets? As far as I’m concerned this shouldn’t be happening in a “democracy” and Trudeau should know better.

Don’t you get tired of USA’s preaching?  Why does the empire feel it has the moral high ground to name bad guys while turning a blind eye to their favored baddies?  I’m thinking of Saudi Arabia and Israel. My war criminals are better than yours, is that the thinking?

And the knack for regime change is only extended to those countries considered unruly. Let’s open a can of “democracy” and destroy the lives of people living in countries the USA can’t control.

I’ll just address your comments on the FBI.  I believe you actually meant what you typed, which is sad.  Investigating the Bidens when the FBI actively suppressed news of Hunter’s laptop, even though they had it in their possession before the 2020 election?  There are so many things wrong with that situation I’m surprised you can’t see a few of them.

That sounds like the FBI alright. I guess I’ll just continue whinin’  and cryin’ .

It's not a positive thing, for sure, but there is a gaping chasm of difference between briefly freezing bank accounts of protestors vs imprisoning them in their thousands, or outright murdering them and/or making them disappear like in Iran, Russia, China etc.

The USA's hypocrisy is more than apparent to most people with a brain.  We could go through a long list of US blunders on the foreign scene, the most visible of which is Iran but also recently Afghanistan, Iraq etc.  Those failures, however, do nothing to justify Putin's invasion of Ukraine, nor does it make Europe and North America's multi-lateral support for Ukraine any less worthy.

Sort of like how the FBI announced further investigation/evidence against Hilary immediately before the 2016 election?  Oof.

Yeah, and then announced they would not be pressing charges, when they should have.  Comey.  You do remember that press conference, don't you?

And Hilary's reflections on the 2016 election after she lost:  " You can run the best campaign.  You can even become the nominee.  And you can have the election stolen from you."

Stop embarrassing yourself, contrare.  The FBI raided Trump’s home.  They bugged his offices and went after many of Trumps allies.

You need a new schtick.  Being contrarian is too difficult for you.  Starting dozens of pointless threads and making posts bereft of analysis or logic…

Ok, sir, I will keep posting.

Even more.

Is not like i ran away from communism to come into Canada and allow some soul lost in his perception dream to stop me. ?

I didn’t say to stop posting, I advised you to change your schtick.  But it’s your dime, do whatever you want with it.

it’s strange.  I detest communism while many weak minded Canadians embrace it or socialism.  You would think we’d find more things in common…
