If you didn’t notice, the Russians under Putin are not much better than the Soviets. It’s not a democracy. Russians aren’t free. And tensions with the rest of the world are extremely high. So, what year did the Cold War actually end? Quote

August1991 Posted November 8, 2022 Author Report Posted November 8, 2022 I don't think that you Americans quite understand what you did between 1950 and 1990 or so. Reagan got the credit for the fall of the wall in Berlin but surely Kennedy deserves credit too. The world today is a better place because of what you Americans did in Korea and Vietnam. You Americans fought battles and won a larger war. Quote

August1991 Posted November 13, 2022 Author Report Posted November 13, 2022 1. I'm not American. 2. "Russian Tsars paved the way for the Bolshevik revolution." WTF? You have no idea of the origin of August1914. 3. Soviets? Progressives? People are what they are. Let us be. We have our own way to decide. Quote
August1991 Posted November 13, 2022 Author Report Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) We in the West won the Cold War. Like 1815, we won the peace for a century. Since 1945, we have largely been at peace. Vietnam and Korea? Like 1848. Skirmishes that we won. ===== 1914? The Austrian-Hungarian Empire didn't fail because of invasion - it fell from within. I think Toynbee said that societies die from suicide, not murder. Edited November 13, 2022 by August1991 Quote
