There was a conversation going on in the Truckers thread that I thought might warrant some further discussion specifically surrounding foreign investment and immigration.

Some have suggested that pointing out that some ethnicities when they come to Canada may choose to only hire people that look like them.

For the sake of actual conversation (not just yelling a drive by "racist" to stop any debate) wondering if we can further the discussion here.

Is it reasonable to:

1. Expect that if a person is to immigrate to Canada that they adopt Canadian values which include respect of women, fair hiring practices, and individual freedom?

2. Oppose extensive foreign ownership over essential resources such as land, housing, or natural resources?

3. Question whether or not foreign influence from international entities or nations is in fact in our best interest?

Seems the debate into such valid questions is often shallow and shut down with screams of "racism"

1. Yes

2. Is 70% excessive?

3. Channelling Pierre Trudeau but ok...

1) Yes but in practice the Employment Equity Act is horribly outdated and not enforceable anyways.

2) I would say we should encourage it but tax foreign ownership at higher rates. We can use the money.

3) The world is becoming more globalized whether we like it or not, this is kind of a losing battle.

Is there evidence to suggest that they do not?

Does the respect of women include agreeing that women have a right to an abortion?  Because there seems to be some people born here who don’t even agree with that, often conservative in their political leanings.

Foreign ownership of most of the tar sands…. Should we nationalize the oil industry to remove foreign ownership?  We did buy a pipeline…. I guess that was a step in that direction.

Seems to me that Alberta has done the opposite, with tax incentives to companies that come to Canada and extract oil.

1. The law of the land is that you can kill babies in the womb if you wish. If you think killing babies in the womb isn't repugnant, then that speaks to you as a person. If you want to kill babies that's on you.

Hopefully one day leftists will accept women's rights even in the womb. They are repugnant so doubt that's going to occur any time soon.

2. It's a disgrace that much of our resources aren't even owned by Canadians. Thank globalists for that.

That's a lot of meat to take a bite into. Yes, I have noticed the Subway owned by Indians hire only Indians.  Frankly I have no real problem with that.  It goes to show though that it is not just white people who show a bias to their own race.  But I believe as long as the employees are legal, not missing their day in court because they are undocumented, an employer can hire whom he chooses.

Part 2 of that question, YES, anyone who immigrates here should respect our culture.  No beheading your daughters for sleeping with a heretic.  No raising money for terrorist groups.  Ect...

omar khadr.  His head should be in a bucket somewhere instead of enjoying man of the year status with the Globe and Mail.  He clearly didn't respect one of our allies fighting the Jihadi's and murdered a US service man.

It seems if you don't love Omar Khadr then you are a racist

It's strange though. A person with darker skin tone hires people only with the same skin tone. That's perfectly acceptable.

A white person hires whites only and that's a hate crime.

Well racist is weak since Islam is NOT a race.  I don't know how many times the left insists it is.  At best that would make me a bigot.  Which I thought was one of our natural rights as Canadians.  Plenty of anti-Christian bigotry has been endured without comment.  And I am 100% fine with that.  No religion should have protected status.

And yes I despise that little wanker.  The biggest mistake the USA made was bringing him in alive.

Targeting a mosque = not acceptable

Targeting a Russian theater or churches = totally fine

True.  From what I believe as generally a libertarian, is hire whom you choose.  You can hire someone for being a good tennis player.  Fine with me.  Should a white person hire someone who is white because they are right?  Yes, they should be able to.  Guess what would happen next.  That shop owner would be all over Facebook and droves would abandon his business for being a bigot.  The market place would punish him for his bigotry.

Such discussions always end with accusations of racism, as many say they are offended because their nationality is censured by other nationalities.  The example of hiring workers by Hindus is very indicative. Of course, many laws have long been outdated and require revision. But it is important to understand that globalization has led to the oppression of the white man. As for property, we should now think more about Russian oligarchs and their offshore investments. I think at the moment, this issue is very acute on the agenda.
