Is Canada moving to the third world?

US announced universal vaccine availability (18 and over) on April, 19. Population of USA: over 300 million.

UK vaccinated well over a half of its population. Population of UK: over 60 million.

Israel administered approximately 1.2 doses per capita of population. Population of Israel: 9 million.

Ontario announced transition to Phase 2 of vaccination (60 and over) on April 7. Population of Ontario: under 15 million.

A distinct quality of a first world democracy: public investment produces clear and effective result.

A distinct quality of a third world democracy: no amount of public investment produces measurable improvement (plus disproportional and at times, outrageous privileges of circles administering public affairs).

And so, which is which and what is what?

Eighteen years after SARS-1, when country showed one of the worst outcomes in the developed world, do we need another wake up call that outdated, ineffective and self-absorbed bureaucracy is no match for the challenges of this century? Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong all learned their lessons. Here, the level of carelessness was matched only by the amounts of public funds thrown at the problem - with no indication of substantial progress so far.

That’s true to.  And our obsession with carbon-less living.

Canada's problem is it is largely a godless nation.  It wants everything without having to work or earn it and it encourages crime, corruption and immorality.  It will get what it deserves unless it has a sudden change of heart, which I don't see any signs of.  Those of us who can see the writing on the wall will just have to buckle down and be prepared to ride the coming tsunami of problems.

In my view, it more plain: just complacency and mental laziness do that, and easily ("bread and circuses", Rome, 1,500 years ago). No need to involve high circles.
