Wouldn't have made much difference....America's major cities were burning for other reasons too.

The point here is that Trump has not fallen into that abyss, his base remains strong, and he could emerge much stronger by November if things get better.

Biden is fighting just to keep the Bernie bros on side, and so far he is losing them.

There's just nothing being offered by the Democrats which is better, it's not even Republicans propping him up, it's disgruntled ex-Democrats

Whoa...pump the brakes.

Make no mistake about this....if things continue to go sideways because of the pandemic and no recovery is on the horizon, Trump will pay a very high price.

Just ask Jimmy Carter.

If it irks you so much, then that is certainly worth it.    I did not vote for Trump....and you can't.

Oh c'mon now you know full well I've been saying go Trump go right alongside you for the very same reason right from thr beginning.

I wad cheering for a Trump before there ever was a Trump.

Jimmy Carter's problem was that he went to war with his own Democrat congress, incited total gridlock, then went on tv and blamed the American people with the Malaise Speech

But yes, I get your point, if this is the Great Depression 2.0, all bets are off

Cheers do not equal votes.   Start your own populist revolution in Canada if you want one.

No he won't. He'll be cheered for suspending democracy for the duration of the emergency.

You don't recall me telling you this months ago?

No, I don't.

Trump will not be cheered for martial law, and just today said that he won't do so on a national scale (yet), leaving that to governors and their national guard units.

None of the Trump supporters I know are loyal to Trump, they just hate the Democrat Progressives exponentially more than they might be disappointing in Trump

It's not about Trump, it's about the 1A & the 2A

No, just predicting it.

I live in Trump territory, which surrounds many Democrat urban cores in red states.    They are loyal to him as a counter to the lefties.

Trump has a built in base that won't abandon him until it doesn't matter any more.

I'm a Republican so I'll go down with the ship as necessary, but as a conservative I can hold my nose on Trump's gaffes if it gets us to 6 to 3 at the SCOTUS

Pandemics come and go, 6 to 3 at the SCOTUS blocks the bulk of the progressive agenda for decades to come

Fair enough, but the GOP wants more than that.   Losing the Senate causes a lot of other dominoes to fall.  The Senate is arguably more important than Trump in the long term, including affirming federal judges.

Trump is starting to lean into it more, has fewer distractions (Russiagate, Mueller Report, and Ukraine impeachment).

Trump's spidey sense is still there, more than willing to open up with both barrels on the "fake news" journalists.

Push it all as far as we can go, but there's no such thing as a permanent majority so most of it can be overturned

Not for judges.

Eventually they take back the territory, I take the long view, it's not about me, it's about the 1A & the 2A

The 4A too, but both parties are so bad on that it's a wash at this point

OK, but there were so many vacancies in the lower courts, Trump has been slamming appointments like they may lose the Senate in the long term.   It is even having an impact in the 9th district circuit .   The GOP's strategy on this pre-dates Trump, stopping Obama's appointments then and surging now.

Not disagreeing, not saying I don't want to take as much judicial power as possible, all I am saying is, if you don't hold the SCOTUS, it's all for nought on the constitutional issues

Depends on the issue and timeline.   Obama lost a few battles along the way, and the SC is taking on Obamacare again for constitutionality.

Also, the Democrats don't have an equivalent Darth Vader like Mitch McConnell.

Joe Biden knows how the Senate works, and he would need an equivalent strong man.

Indeed, but I think we are critical on the 2A timeline right now, gun grabbing is getting out of control

Not that it's going to get rid of guns, I just want to keep red blooded patriotic American gunfighters out of the Prison Industrial Complex by draconian regulation

Red Flag is insidious, because they're coming through the states

Roberts is not reliable, who knows what Kavanaugh is, so far I'm only banking Gorsuch

Abortion is not my issue and I think stare decisis will prevail, none the less Barrett is a right wing nutjob in many other ways, including guns.

Abortion is actually what will keep the gun grabbers at bay.   Guns are an enumerated right....killing unborn babies is not.

No that would be wrong. I did no such thing.
