Jost, Timmins, couple of draft picks and a bucket of pucks.

Patty Kane has got lots left in the tank, still skates like the wind,  doesn't matter how young the Bread Man is, he's never gonna be  Patty Kane.

Panarin ain't that big of a downgrade from Kane, he's never going to be Patty Kane, but he ain't too far from being that.

If all Kane would cost is the Avs is Jost, Timmins, a couple of draft picks and a bucket of pucks, then pull that trigger immediately before Chicago wises up.

Chicago needs to move on, they need the cap room, they need to rebuild, they can't get rid of Toews contract, nobody is taking Toews for 10.5, Patty Kane is their only asset, and the asset is to free them from the 10.5, and free Patty Kane so he can win another cup in Denver, which Patty Kane would be totally up for, because Patty Kane, is Captain America.

A smart GM would realize that, not sure Stan Bowman realizes it though, or we probably would have heard Kane trade rumors if he had. Might take another year of failure before he gives up and starts the rebuild. Hopefully Sakic could sell him on the idea sooner rather than later, but Bowman seems to have delusions they can rebuild around the same core and still win, for now anyway.

Bergevin providing an effective demonstration as to why offer sheets are so rare.

They generally don't work, because the other will match unless you massively overpay.

Aho could probably be had, but it would cost 7 years $13 million plus and the four 1st round picks.

Trying to come in under the overpay is not going to work.

All you end up doing is burning a bridge with another GM.

You're right on that one...

Bergevin managed to do fuck all during this off season. No fucking trade to replace Andrew Shaw who played 1st and 2nd line. Well we're weakened this next year except for Ryan Poehling who's coming in hot.

Bergevin didn't do fuck all this off season. He lowered the price of Rantanen and Marner with that Aho offer sheet, Thanks Bergevin. I know you meant for Montreal, but I wanted to rub it in.

They're not going to get much for Kane now, he's 30, there's only three years left on the contract, he's a super super rental, only a contender would have any use for him, most contenders cannot take the cap hit, the Avs are one of the few if not the only ones who could.

Would be nice if Bowman woke up to that reality. Fingers crossed.

Patty Kane also has a no movement clause, so that narrows down their options even more, not only are the Avs a contender who can fit Patty Kane under their cap, it's also a place Patty would waive to be traded to.

F**k the Bread Man if he don't like America, you know Patty Kane would be proud to carry the Stanley Cup through the streets of Denver, he's a hockey nerd, he surely embraces the legacy of Gentleman Joe & Co.

It's all Geoff Molson, Bergevin is just Geoff Molson's crony, that's why he doesn't get fired.

Geoff Molson is like Harold Ballard, Marc Bergevin is Punch Imlach.

Marc Bergevin, Pierre Dorion and Jim Benning are all the same, because they are all fake GM's, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver are all being managed by their owners, Harold Ballard style.

Even Don Waddell has more independence with Tom Dundon than Bergevin has with Molson.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to be Geoff Molson's crony, if Geoff Molson would like to hire me to be the GM of Les Habitants, I'm here for him.

All I would say, is that if we are going to piss teams off by offer sheeting, lets go for broke, and lets go after Patrik Laine with 13 million bucks.

You're not getting anybody unless you are going big.

Both Laine and Connor are RFA's, right now the Jets have lots of cap room, but after they sign them, they'll be in cap hell. Jets vulnerable to the offer sheet, strike while the iron is hot.

Well I actually think offer sheets are dumb, but if I was the fake GM of the Habs I would advise  Molson to go big or go home, because they're just going to match unless it's a huge overpay.

Tampa only has $7 million in cap space, so maybe go after Point, but they will clear more cap space, you're not getting him unless you really jam them up so they can't match, like 13, 14, 15 million, anything less they will match just to match.

Like if an RFA signs an offer sheet, he's basically lobbying to be traded at some point in the future, but you don't trade him on his terms, you trade him on your terms, so you match just to match, you try to build a team to make a run or two, if it's not working because you're cap jammed, then you shop him until you get the deal you want.

Preds should have offer sheeted and overpaid Point or Aho instead of wasting the money on Matt Duchene, silly Poile settling for overpaying 2C's, derp.

If you're going to overpay a center, overpay a legit 1C.

Ben Chiarot signs with the Habs for 3 years at $3.5 million AAV. I used to better than him when I was on his team in hockey school, I swear. Now he's living the dream making $4.5 million CAD a year, playing for an original six team, and he lived four blocks away from me.
