This week JT was featured on the cover of Rolling Stones. The nearly 7,000 word story was a poorly written puff piece that couldn't have been more fawning over Trudeau if it was written by the LCP themselves.

But one part of the story is getting some backlash from an unexpected source.

In one corner stood Canada’s youngest senator, heavily tattooed and armed with a black belt in karate. In the other stood a lanky Justin Trudeau, the underdog whom bookies were giving 3-1 odds against.

That 2012 boxing match marked a pivotal moment in Trudeau’s political career. But his account of the episode is now raising eyebrows, after he offered a glimpse into his decision to take on indigenous politician Patrick Brazeau.

“It wasn’t random,” Trudeau told Rolling Stone magazine in an interviewpublished this week. “I wanted someone who would be a good foil, and we stumbled upon the scrappy tough-guy senator from an indigenous community. He fit the bill, and it was a very nice counterpoint. I saw it as the right kind of narrative, the right story to tell.”

The comments – part of a 6,800-word August cover story on the prime minister – sparked immediate reaction. “So ‘privileged white guy beats up Indian’ was the ‘right kind of narrative?’ Seriously?” wrote one person on Twitter, while another noted: “White guy in power & entitlement looks 4 an #Indigenous human to beat up so he looks like a strong white dude. How precious & colonial supreme.”

I remember this was set up by the, now defunct, Sun News TV Network. Brazeau looked like he was the tougher guy. Until you realized he gave up several inches in hight and wingspan to the gangly JT. JT destroyed him.

We now get a revelation that Brazeau was picked precisely because he's FN is a bit of blemish on Mr. Inclusive wouldn't you say?

I doubt this will cause too controversy. But it is another example where JT isn't what he says he is.

Yes I'm sure JT's motivation for this fight was "I want to beat up on an aboriginal"

This is a dumb controversy.  He probably just misspoke or story was edited poorly or something.  I don't see these thoughts coming from JT's head.  To me it just looked like oh hey a tough guy Liberal and tough guy Conservative want to show off their amateur boxing skills while beating each other up.

I'm guessing that PMJT is wishing he had not brought up the matter of that amateur boxing match, or at least not have gone into any such detail. Especially that he has promised a new approach in dealing with First Nations issues. The optics are not very good on that score. Once more I am reminded that his political instincts are lacking due to the fact his physical persona is more important to him than his job of managing the country.

Inches or even pounds only help if you can actually box and take a punch. It was a huge risk for Trudeau in multiple ways but it showed a toughness to him which served him well in the campaign and since.

The race angle is nothing special. We are all facing that problem. I don't hold JT to any higher standard there, just as Holy Joe Tories who turn out to be gay don't shock me either. Hypocrisy is a vital political virtue.

JT regrets his words and feels bad about how his words were interpreted. Sometimes it's best not to shoot off your mouth in foreign media just to satisfy your need for fame and personal gratification.

Cindy Blackstock, executive director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada, said she’s glad Trudeau apologized for comments, saying the image of “the savage and the civilized” has dominated Canadian government for too long.

However, it’s important for the prime minister to set the record straight in a letter to Rolling Stone “so the same people who read that article actually get to learn from the humility of him saying what he did was wrong and why it was wrong,” she said.

“The idea that you would go searching for an Indigenous person to engage in an exercise with the aim, really, of making yourself look good, as that seems to imply, is disturbing.”

This is a controversy 100 percent of JT's doing and First Nations leaders are not about to let it go.

Trudeau pranced around the ring in a pathetic cock fight. It didn't change what he was and is- a self absorbed cock who combines the elocution of Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety and Porky Pig. Time Magazine is the next about to do a fluff piece on him.

I told people and I say it again, he will be on Dancing With The Stars next year.  Its only a matter of time.

He kicked Brazeau's ass!!!

But now Conservatives are angry that it isn't politically correct.   What a bunch of hypocrites.   This should, in theory, win him support from you "non-PC" types.

Sorry, I don't understand your comment.  Conservatives don't have to say anything about this;  just stand back and watch the fiasco.

You didn't even read the OP.
