THIS IS INSANE

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2017/06/26/jewish-marchers-say-they-were-kicked-out-of-a-rally-for-inclusiveness-because-of-their-beliefs/?utm_term=.d1d2e578fd86

This is victim identity politics gone insane.  Just because you carry an Israeli flag and/or are a zionist doesn't mean you're not critical of certain Israeli gov actions, and doesn't mean you're anti-palestinian or anti 2-state solution.  For an LGBT rally march to be "anti-zionist" is disgusting.  So much for "inclusiveness".

Seems like more and more of these so called "inclusiveness" celebrations are being hijacked by special interests and ideologies.

Seems typical though.  Inclusiveness, for those of whom we approve.  Like freedom of speech, for speech with which we agree.

Life is full of grey areas...    should they tolerate the KKK and let them march in their parade?  No.   So does that mean they aren't tolerant?   Of course not.

But I wouldn't have drawn the line where they did.

Pretty silly, I concur.  Israel has been a haven for gays and lesbians kicked out of (or threatened with execution in) some of the other countries in the region.

Even though I don't agree with kicking them out, this story is not so one-sided.

Not sure if you caught the following in the article:

“This decision was made after they repeatedly expressed support for Zionism during conversations with Chicago Dyke March Collective members. We have since learned that at least one of these individuals is a regional director for A Wider Bridge, an organization with connections to the Israeli state and right-wing pro-Israel interest groups.”

“The Chicago Dyke March Collective is explicitly not anti-Semitic, we are anti-Zionist,” the statement added. “The Chicago Dyke March Collective supports the liberation of Palestine and all oppressed people everywhere.”

And this:

March organizers also posted a message from a Jewish marcher who said she was saddened that the Dyke March was “being labeled as anti-Semitic.”

“I want to speak to other Jews and say that firstly — saying you’re ‘not Zionist’ as a way to justify an allegiance to something or to not be critical of Zionism is not the same as being anti-Zionist, and is actually a position of neutrality which means being uncritical of the state of Israel,” Carrie Kaufman wrote. “It is very important that American Jews understand how this symbol and the idea that white European Jews are entitled to Israel have been used to fuel a colonialist state where Palestinian people are robbed of their rights, dignity, and lives on their own land.”

If Zionism cannot support a Palestinian State and human rights for Palestinians, then it's understandable why some people would disagree with the ideology. If you're going to trample all over another group of people to have a home for a specific group of people, then what you're doing is wrong.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always. Gandhi

It seams to have escaped these people that the Star of David was what six million European Jews were forced to wear before they were exterminated.  They understand stand very well what it stands for, much more so than the Chicago Dykes.

The Israeli flag deserves respect and gay rights are protected in Israel to an extent unknown in neighbouring countries. On this matter, Israel is definitely one of the good guys.

Ideology trumps common sense sometimes.
