August1991 Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Ask a Muslim: Is the Koran the literal word of God? Ask a Christian: Is the New Testament the moral word of God? Ask a Jew: Is the Pentateuch the word of God? Ask a Buddhist, what is God? Ask an atheist: Is there a God? ==== Nowadays, in this 21st century world, I reckon that we must first confront ignorant superstitious rich Muslims. Then, we can deal with pollution problems. Quote
August1991 Posted December 22, 2016 Author Report Posted December 22, 2016 American leftiists are obsessed about federal regulation, blackl/white, so-called Civil Rights. In Canada, we elected a minority PM in 1896. Imagine. Yes, we did. Quote

Rue Posted December 23, 2016 Report Posted December 23, 2016 Well since you asked me, no I don't think the Pentateuch is the word of God but I don't doubt some of my fellow Jews who are religious do. Me personally I believe the Pentateuch like any other writing or passages was written by humans who believe they were inspired by God. Me personally I believe the only entity or thing that can speak for "God" if "God" speaks, is "God" . Now in terms of remedying the world's problems, I think they are caused by a lot of human beings and while I don' doubt some of them might be rich Muslims I would think there are others too who may or may not be rich, may or may not be Muslim. I suspect everyone on this planet is a problem in some way or another. . Quote

Eyeball, it is rich superstitious Muslims that I fear. ==== Maybe like England in the 1600s, the Arabic language needs a Shakespeare. Guest Posted December 24, 2016 Report Posted December 24, 2016 It's certainly expensive to try and track and stop all the violence, but what can you do? You have to try, even though failure is always a possibility. Quote

kactus Posted December 24, 2016 Report Posted December 24, 2016 (edited) In the absence of oil and western countries intervention in that region one could envisage how a "voltaire" might adapt to the society in that region. Reality is far different from such inspirations. But hey it is what it is...We all know about the history of our interventions in that region. Installing of puppet governments that serve our interest in favour of real democracy flourishing, sell arms in exchange for cheap oil, funding terrorist groups and the list goes on.... And when the years of failed policies finally backfires oblivious to the real cause and geo-politiks of middle east we would somehow aspire to wishy-washy french enlightenment to fix these....
