Canada doesn't need that position, it's not necessary for us to have an institutionalized position as in the U.S. We have the GG's wife for that anyway, IMO this is just Ms. Trudeau being a diva and promoting herself, she seems to be somewhat Kardashian like...

I think that's more a reflection of your bias than anything.

Maybe she will reconsider her sad misfortune after visiting some charred houses at Fort Mac.

Apparently no one can have a problem if it's any less than someone else's problems.

This is laughable....as if her "problem" is only a bit less than many others' with far less resources to deal with much more substantial "problems".

Let me guess.....she want's "U.S. Netflix" too. Poor Canadian Camelot....should have read the job description and salary.

That sailed right over your head, I see.

what is laughable is you weighing in on this! You don't need to know the kind/degree of impacting, as you say, "problem"... you just dive right on in.

since you've taken direct liberty to extend your post to include two U.S. references, let me remind you (a confirmation of U.S. First Lady staffing... the U.S. First Lady position that, by definition is unpaid and without official duties attached - ala Snopes, with a quibble to distinguish "access to" versus "hiring of" in regards Michelle Obama) - enjoy... and y'all come back now, hear!

A look at some first ladies and their staff sizes:

Michelle Obama: 22 staffers working for her, directly or indirectly.

Laura Bush: Between 24 and 26 by end of President George W. Bush's term in 2009, according to Anita McBride, Mrs. Bush's chief of staff.

Lady Bird Johnson, whose signature issue was beautifying roadways, had a staff of 30, said Stacy A. Cordery, a history professor at Montmouth [sic] College in Illinois who studies first ladies.

Betty Ford had almost the same number.

Jacqueline Kennedy, who made renovating the White House her cause, had about 40 people on staff, Cordery said.

All I can see is your partisan sympathy for a topic that begs prolific mocking. The story has taken on a life all its own, no matter what her minimal interview comments intended. Welcome to politics Mrs. Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.

She should've thought about that one before whining publicly about her 'needs'.

Agreed....she can't have it both ways. Maybe the TV host urge just overpowered grace under fire.

I mean, doesn't she know her place?

Amirite?

oh my! Accounts I've read certainly don't speak to "whining publicly"... all this stems from a single interview where she states she's unable to meet all project/charitable requests coming at her and that she needs to make difficult choices given the resources she has available. Apparently, that's your criteria for "whining"! Talk about... your whining!

Huh... no, but she should've known better than to whine publicly, I guess she didn't think about how bad the optics and offensive her comments are to working mothers everywhere.

As NDP MP Niki Ashton told the media: "hearing statements like that certainly doesn't speak to the reality that Canadian women face and the kind of struggles that, you know, that they're undertaking day in, day out."

It didn't have a spot for Barrack Obama either.

Does that mean Obama wasn't elected?

What exactly are you trying to argue here?

But Obama was elected. The Prime Minister is not. MPs are the only ones elected. The PM happens to be an MP, but doesn't have to be.

Does she looks like she wants to avoid it? :D

And if she did avoid it, you would be whining about how secretive she is and how Trudeau is hiding her. You're complaining just to hear yourself complain.

Cripes.. and then some... they hounded conservative MPs over glasses of O.J.

Oh, you were cool with Bev Oda's expenses were you? Because I remember Harper sure as hell didn't shrug his shoulders.

What's this.....Sophie has a problem with the taste of tap water too? Where did you guys put them...in Flint, Michigan ?

Emails between National Capital Commission staff and the Prime Minister’s Office show that “Mrs”—referring to Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau”—doesn’t like the taste of the water, even though continuous testing done by the NCC shows that there is nothing wrong with it, and even a PMO representative said it’s completely potable.

In the meantime, the Trudeaus are getting drinking water supplied only in glass bottles, instead of drinking from the tap like the rest of Canadians do.

I prefer filtered water as well. I don't like the taste of chlorine. And the water here is better than Ottawa's water....

For those who are interested, here is the link to the original interview (en francais) she gave to Le Soleil.

Interesting to note, she says she is "in love" with the French language, and loves to write songs and poetry, which she does often. Here is her direct quote:

«Je suis une amoureuse de la langue française. J'aime beaucoup écrire des chansons, des poèmes, je le fais régulièrement, je suis inspirée constamment.»

As one columnist put it, it's out of sync with Trudeau's messaging around helping the middle class.

Save your indignation. She made one complaints about her unpaid workload.

As NDP MP Niki Ashton told the media: "hearing statements like that certainly doesn't speak to the reality that Canadian women face and the kind of struggles that, you know, that they're undertaking day in, day out."

She should save her's too.

My dad is the water treatment officer for our community. I don't drink the tap water though...because I don't like the taste.
