But the spouse of the Prime Minister, who has been involved in several cases in recent years, is flooded with requests. "It's hard to choose because it is affecting the people who want your help. This is terrible letters I get, people who suffer. You say to yourself: I will try to convey a message that will reach as many people as possible. "

Meanwhile, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has no room to its disposal in the Langevin Block that houses the prime minister's office. "I have an office at home on my dinner table. We want to dust off some old patriarchal ways and we want to modernize the equipment that allows us to serve people, because people want to be the modernized. That is clear in our heads. I have someone who helps me to receive requests, to answer them, and you get more than can be dealt with. "

Yeah, she's a real evil person for sure.

Are you done making things up? Who said she was evil? What's being said is we don't need to pay so she can spread her celebrity wisdom. What exactly does she have to offer us other than being the pretty wife of the PM? What does she have to offer that thousands of others don't? What exactly is your desperation to defend this about anyway?

She is not required to make any of these appearances, if she wants to be charitable, let her, let her do it like most others do, when she can, and because of her station in life, she can already do MUCH more than most, we are paying for that lifestyle already, if you want to help her in her 'work', you make a donation. Or better yet, donate to a real charity, and you sure as hell shouldn't need her to help you to do it, how many of us even knew her name before last year? How shallow do you need to be to feel empathy for her plight?

We hire an assistant for her as a matter of course (for the 5th or 6th time now), as we did for Laureen Teskey and those before her. We obviously (as in Canadians - not you) expect something from her. And yes - from her very innocent comments, she's been called all kinds of names on all different forums, from entitled, to elitist, to out of touch. People love to complain, mostly because they feel that their position in life makes them exactly the same as her. She now has a chance to make a difference in the way that the spouse of a head of government usually does. With her, the problem is caused by her popularity. It's a pretty good problem to have.

Frankly, I'm happy to have Conservatives and New Democrats tilt at windmills though. It further justifies my decision to vote Liberal.

I can't imagine anyone caring. Then again, I can't imagine anyone caring about this.

People certainly wouldn't be saying he should stay home and look after his kids - I know that much.

We're talking about a PERSON who essentially has no job, and yet needs two taxpayer funded nannies to look after her kids despite the fact she and the hubby are millionaires.

I'm sure there must be - though it sounds like there isn't one.

By virtue of his position, he needs help with the kids. They travel a lot, they are required to make a lot of public appearances, etc. They are not you, they are not me, and they should not be treated as such. Someone with no job usually doesn't have a provided assistant, also.

That's exactly what she said.

“I’d like to be everywhere, but I can’t,” Trudeau told Le Soleil. “I have three children at home and a husband who is prime minister. I need help. I need a team to help me serve people.”

A home which she doesn't have to do anything to take care of, including cooking meals, and three children who are looked after by nannies. If she wants to do volunteer work, well, that's nice, but why should we pay multiple people to schedule her time? One person can't schedule her time? Seriously? I've known many admin assistants to directors and director generals whose time is very, very busy and they don't have any problem scheduling for them along with many, many other things they do, including dealing with dozens of phone calls and dozens of emails each day.

By all accounts, she still looks after the children much of the time. It's simply a different situation than a normal person's life.

It's not about scheduling her time. It's about research, vetting, speech writing, and letter writing.

Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau should call the producers of Love It or List It, as they could help her organize the residence to be more efficient and she would just love even more attention on television.

Which Obama....Barrack or Michelle ? One of them is The First Lady, which doesn't exist in Canada.

I did that specifically for your benefit. Apparently, it was appreciated.

It surely was.....nothing says controversy in Canada like concern over what the Americans have/do.

I hope things work out for poor Sophie, as she is so hard done by compared to Michelle Obama.

If she is "so popular" and so "in demand" then it shouldn't be that hard for her to command a healthy sum for her efforts (like her hubby did). Then she could pay for her own "extra help". Asking the tax payer to pay for it is a perfect example of liberals "feeding at the trough".

That wouldn't be appropriate.

Excellent point....why can't Sophie use her talents and good fortune to command serious speaking/singing/modeling appearance fees in North America and around the world ? She is not in public service and can do as she damn well pleases, striking another blow for women's rights and equality. Vive' Sophie !

Why?

yes! Why? Why, as a claimed American, would you have over 20 posts in this thread? Just how important is Canada to you? Just how... definitional... is Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau to you?

These attacks are just more of the because Trudeau stuff that's become the norm from the far left and right.

Nonsense. I'd say the same if she were a Tory. I never hesitated to criticize the tories when they were in power.

And this is the same kind of petty attack that I would have defended the Conservatives against. Liberals really hated Harper - but Conservatives reeeeaaaallly hate the Trudeau's. Some just hate him because of his name. Other's I'm almost certain, are scared of him.
