Argus Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 It's easy to tell people that trade is taking their jobs away, but eliminate it and see how people react when appliances, electronics and clothes double and triple in price. You know that toaster you paid $11 for? It's $50 now. And those $700 smart phones are now $2500. Topaz Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 It's been said that Mexicans are coming across the border for a better live and of the danger of the drug cartels but if u think about the foreign companies down there, is it really that bad now? Quote
eyeball Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) What do you think about the idea the border wall? Sound like a good idea or bad idea? Does it deserve the controversy it gets? Is Trump just a looney? If the US actually can wall itself off Mexico could benefit from not having to worry about the biggest market for drugs on the planet being on its border.Mind you we might be overrun with drug cartels until we get a wall of our own. The_Squid Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) A wall is just unrealistic. Too expensive and pointless. A lot of the border is in the middle of nowhere. A simple jackhammer will get through the wall and no one will be withi 100 miles to hear the noise or see the new hole in the wall. Such a wall would be greater in volume than all six pyramids of the Giza Necropolis and it is unlikely that a concrete slab in the town of Dead Dog Valley, Texas would inspire the same timeless sense of wonder. That quantity of concrete could pave a one-lane road from New York to Los Angeles, going the long way around the Earth, which would probably be just as useful. http://www.nationalmemo.com/an-engineer-explains-why-trumps-wall-is-so-implausible/I look forward to the day construction begins! August1991 Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) Some walls are good. I have a number in my house and am quite happy with them. I wouldn't spend a lot of time fretting over Trumps wall though. If Trump was at all sincere about his bullshit about Mexican's, he would stop having his clothes made there. Do you lock your door at night? Do you have a password for your phone? More fundamentally, how do you choose your friends, members of your "club"? Who has access to your Facebook page? ====== Free trade? It is one thing to buy French cheese freely but it is another to have a French dairy farmer living in your home. On Guard for Thee Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 A cell phone maybe? Just wait until they come out with chipped SIN cards. Hey wait...what if they built this wall on the Mexican/US border, and then somebody flew a plane into it, and while Trump was in the WH? I really wanrt to be a shareholder in Breitbart when that happens! Quote
