socialist Posted November 1, 2015 Report Posted November 1, 2015 Then bring it back home by proposing the inevitable American reference for Justin Trudeau and his new policies. Or does that only work for the "dark side" (in Canada).A Carbon Tax is nothing but a wealth redistribution scheme. CO2 is currently at ~400ppm. At times in our planet's history it has been as high as 4000ppm. A botanist told me that plant life will start dying out if it drops below 150ppm. We are only 250ppm above the life extinction level. I am going to produce more CO2 than ever. Quote Thankful to have become a free thinker.
Argus Posted December 3, 2015 Report Posted December 3, 2015 An analysis by the CD Howe institute shows that contrary to Liberal plans, they will not get nearly enough money by increasing taxes on the 'rich' to cover their bribe to the middle class. The bribe will cost $3.5 billion, but only less than $1 billion will be collected from penalizing successful Canadians. Furthermore, the move is likely to cost the provinces billions every year as higher income people adjust their plans and move money around to lower their tax burdens. The $1 billion in additional federal revenue will cost the provinces $1.4 billion. http://business.financialpost.com/fp-comment/the-feds-4-billion-hole Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

I do have space on the bumper of my retrofitted Hummer which is powered by static electricity, hope, best wishes and the positive vibrations of singing Neil Young songs. It can go right next to the "Nuke the Gay Whales for Jesus" sticker which is getting a little faded. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
Topaz Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 Getting back to tax breaks to Canadians, why does the opposition parties always against tax cuts for taxpayers BUT when Harper raised their pay twice, that I now of, not one said it would cost too much??????? I think every MP should have this question asked by their constituents. How much did it does taxpayer for their raise? Quote

socialist Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 I'm bringing it back to JT in that the TPP will be ratified as a way to balance out these new taxes. I like the Liberal plan for child cheques. I will receive over $600 a month tax free. That's pretty sweet. Harper only gave us monthly cheques that were taxable. Smallc Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 The UCCB is taxable. Most of the current benefit, which is received by low and medium earning people (it's means tested, so it has a declining total with rising income) isn't taxable. If you're going to get that much under the Trudeau plan, you're already getting some non taxable benefit now. Quote
dre Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Think about the context here: I'm defending a trade deal that our newly likeable PM will ratify, probably without major changes. Yeah what a stupid thing to do... defend a deal that you know nothing about, even though its been leaked to the media that much of the deal isn't a trade deal at all, and will harm Canadians and force us to adopt bad policies on things like intellectual property rights, internet freedom, and copyright/patent protection law, and could even prevent the government from operating crown corporations. Not to mention subject canadian companies to lawsuits even though they are operating in according with existing Canadian law. Maybe these things are just rumors and arent even true... We dont know because the negotiations are secret (how democratic). But to either support or oppose the deal without having any idea whats in it, is just flat out retarded. Now it's over $600....and all of it will be tax free. So I am happy with JT about this. I guess if you don't have kids it doesn't benefit you. Quote Thankful to have become a free thinker.

Can you postulate a reason why our negotiators would want to sign a deal which is bad for Canada? Are they stupid? Do they hate Canada? Have they been bribed? dre Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Can you postulate a reason why our negotiators would want to sign a deal which is bad for Canada? Are they stupid? Do they hate Canada? Have they been bribed? Canada is not a single entity its made up of all kinds of groups. Furthermore I'm uncomfortable with the extent to which the government represents corporate interests as opposed the interests of Canadian citizens in general. If some of the rumors are true - extended patent protection for example, this will most certainly hurt Canadians. Especially in the case of prescription drugs because we are already facing skyrocketing healthcare costs and lengthening the time it takes for generics to get to the market will make the problem much worse. I'm also wary of these sorts of "omnibus" styled deals. If Canadians want to drop all our tarifs and trade barriers then fine... Lets do that. Lets make a trade deal. But it should not include provisions that strip Canadian voters of their power to make whatever laws they see fit through their elected government. I think there should be national referendums on these kind of things following a full and complete debate in the HOC. According to the latest polling only 35% of Canadians support this agreement. The rest either oppose it or have no opinion because nobody has told us whats in it. Anyway... my point to Mike was that the time to either oppose something or be in favor of it should be after you know something about it. Quote I question things because I am human. So, at 45k per year a person will receive an extra $56 per month. WHOA!!! Now, when the other shoe drops - increased EI, increased CPP, carbon tax on fuel, Cap n Trade, loss of income splitting with a stay at home wife - you'll be paying them an additional $112 per month. Typical Liberal largesse. Give with the right hand and shaft big time with the left. Quote Thankful to have become a free thinker.

Topaz Posted December 11, 2015 Author Report Posted December 11, 2015 Perhaps the could make a special tax for millionaires and billionaires because they would hardly miss the money compared to the rest of us. Quote
