cybercoma
Parm Gill, Conservative candidate for Brampton North, is under investigation by the Elections Commissioner for violating the Elections Act. This makes it the fourth election in a row that a Conservative candidate has been under investigation or charged with violations under the elections act. Parm Gill is accused of taking donations from constituents without permission. A man named Harbhajan Singh went around the community in the last election collecting donations from people via their credit cards for Liberal candidate Jim Karygiannis. Singh now works for the Conservative campaign and the accuser claims his credit card has been charged for a Conservative donation without his permission. You can find the full story here.Edit: Title length Edited October 8, 2015 by cybercoma

scribblet
It really is, there was a story about it a while ago which sounded as if it was more to do with a shifty character Harbhajan Singh ,known in the Punjabi community as Comrade, a nickname that seems to stem from his time in India with the Communist party. He was involved with ex MP Karygiannis at one time as a 'community organizer' who went out and collected donations for a candidate. I don't know why people needed to go through him or why they couldn't donate themselves. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/2-men-conflict-over-donation-made-to-conservatives-1.3208189 Earlier this week, the Conservatives told CBC News that Harbhajan Singh had no role with their campaign and they are investigating other donations involving him. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/08/26/parm-gill-jagdish-singh-liberal-conservative-donations_n_8044480.html Conservative spokesperson Stephen Lecce told HuffPost in an email that the Brampton North EDA received a request from Jagdish Singh to refund a donation in August 2015 and "the donation in question was immediately refunded." "The EDA is currently investigating whether there are other donations involving Harbajhan Singh," Lecce said in the email. "Harbajhan Singh has no role on the campaign." waldo
not sure how the statement, "the Conservatives told CBC News that Harbhajan Singh had no role with their campaign and they are investigating other donations involving him"... allows Harper Conservatives to simply dismiss/ignore the relationship between candidate Parm Gill and Singh... to dismiss/ignore the money flow/trail. I trust the Elections Canada investigation will not impact on the election... surely, Harper Conservatives don't need "another one biting the dust"! waldo
early this morning CBC Newsworld carried a segment on Gill in relation to possible ethics violations... haven't found anything at cbc.ca: Conservative supported radio licence bids despite conflict-of-interest guideline Conservative candidate Parm Gill sent letters of support to Canada's broadcast regulator on behalf of two radio licence applicants in Brampton, Ont., while a parliamentary secretary — despite guidelines from the federal ethics commissioner forbidding such interventions Gill, who is seeking re-election, wrote the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in praise of competing applications for AM licences in May when he was parliamentary secretary to the international trade minister. Topaz
In the 2008 election or maybe 06, the Liberal MP for that riding, her name escapes me, said even before Gill was running for the Tories, he was getting new want-to -be Canadians, help to citizenship to the Tory party MP, when they should have gone to the Liberal MP who represented the riding. Not sure what any of that means . This one I think, the one who wanted to lower requirements for OAS. http://www.thestar.com/news/investigations/2009/05/05/ruby_dhallas_nanny_trouble.html
