Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 On the contrary May has been polled as the most respected leader by Canadians and Harper the least. That must be why they Greens are in the lead, and Harper is the one seen most desirable as the PM. Quote
G Huxley Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 "No, we don't. We have 3 serious contenders, and those other people."To suggest that May isn't serious is simply dishonest and mendacious. Quote
Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 So what? Let her debate against the big boys. Let's she what she's made of. She's not one of the big boys. Quote
Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 To suggest that May isn't serious is simply dishonest and mendacious. She has no chance of forming or leading a government. Quote

G Huxley Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 She's not one of the big boys. Sexist. Quote
Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 I would be genuinely interested in seeing a debate that included the Communists and Libertarians, actually. I'm not sure how to make it manageable. So would I. I think two debates would actually be a great thing - one for those who have a shot, and one for those who have yet to prove themselves. Quote
Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 According to current polls Harper is the least desirable as the PM. Tell that to Nanos research: http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/election/nanos-poll-harper-slightly-ahead-for-preferred-pm-1.2571250 Quote
Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 Sexist. She has no chance of forming government. I care not one iota about her sex or gender. Quote

G Huxley Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 "She has no chance of forming government. I care not one iota about her sex or gender."She isn't given a chance, because you are using undemocratic tactics to sideline her and her party. Quote

That means the vast majority of Canadians do not want Harper as the next PM. Quote
G Huxley Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 So what. I would like to see her debate against the big boys. It's good for the country And for Democracy, but what is good for the country and good for Democracy are one and the same. Quote

Smallc Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 What these threads has shown is that Democracy is something that can't be taken for granted. What this shows is that you'd rather shout DEMOCRACY without knowing what it is and having an actual discussion around it. It must be fought for, just as our ancestors fought for Democracy. The struggle of the authoritarians to prevent Democracy in Canada is as apparent as ever. No one is trying to prevent democracy (certainly not here). Quote

Evening Star Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 So what criteria would you use, Huxley and WestCoastRunner? Whether a party holds a seat in the House or not? Quote

G Huxley Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) I know exactly what Democracy is 'rule by the people' and that it has always been necessary to struggle for it."No one is trying to prevent democracy (certainly not here)." Keeping May out of the debates is an attempt to prevent Democracy. "No one is sidelining her...other than the Canadian public."On the contrary the Canadian public in polls overwhelmingly say that May should be allowed to participate in the debates. G Huxley Posted September 20, 2015 Report Posted September 20, 2015 So what criteria would you use, Huxley and WestCoastRunner? Whether a party holds a seat in the House or not? I've said previously if a party can field 20 candidates nationally then they should be allowed in the debates. That would require 20,000 signatures and 20 national candidates to have gone through with the registration process. Quote
