During a school science fair, there were things confiscated from me and my friend when we did our science/history project on ancient weapons. With my dad's help we created a wooden mace, wooden morning star with a 5" chain. My friend had several swords. All which were confiscated. In retrospect it might have been a stupid idea. There was no public outcry and our story never made the news.

That sounds like a pretty cool project. I guess I can see why it caused a bit of a problem though.

It's a pencil case in the form of a mini brief case. Kids have been sent home for much less.

It's a far cry from a suitcase. And while you're being intellectually dishonest, this kid wasn't sent home. He was taken away in handcuffs and brought to the police station.

You weren't arrested, hauled off campus in handcuffs and given a week suspension?

No. Strange too. My dad helped us build the mace and morning star. He had a small workshop in the garage, lathe, drill press, table saw, ect .... So we learned things about woodworking at the same time. Lathed the handles, cut small blocks into small pyramids, glued them to the top, painted it all black. They were pretty damn awesome and my dad had fun helping us. The swords were basic ones you can buy at selected shops in town. My friend was fascinated with swords and and knives in general. Don't worry it was not a psychotic fascination.

When my older brother was in high school, he built a homemade digital clock back in 1970 or 71...at a time when it was a big deal...and expensive for the time to get all the parts (about $70.00). Good thing his first name wasn't Muhammed!

A clock can be used as a timer for a bomb. I would use a wrist watch though and not a big digital one but if that's all you had you certainly could use a larger clock.

Thanks for sharing your vast bomb-building expertise, Unibomber! So, are you saying that if somebody sees you with a wristwatch they should call the bomb-squad?

Yes, many bombs apparently have timers. They also often have screws, wires, and batteries, based on what I've learned from watching spy movies. Cell phones can apparently be used to make detonators. I think that if we get into the habit of arresting people for having possession of stuff that could be used in a bomb, everybody's going to be in jail.

I think maybe we should consider possessing stuff that COULD ACTUALLY EXPLODE a key part of what constitutes a bomb.

I think he would've planted it soneplace though and not carried it with him class to class.

So, aside from using a big clunky alarm clock instead of a wristwatch, building a box with no explosives in it, showing it to everybody instead of stashing it someplace secret, are there any other clues that your finely honed detectives skills have picked up?

I'm waiting for the first mouth-breather to say "He did it on purpose........he knew the MSM would cover this." AND. "You know the 'War on Teachers' has begun."

Mama mouth-breather already has.

So was this whole performance about a possible bomb or getting the kid? Their non actions regarding the possible danger from a bomb suggest the latter.

Of course, you will never get anyone to admit it.

You're welcome.

I can provide step by step instructions but I'd be banned so I must stick to generalities.

Bombs can be made from household products. Not everyone has the same life. We all have various experiences that shape who we are.

I can answer questions about explosives but I'll wait until a mod weighs in before I do. I don't want to break any rules and get into trouble. Plus it would be irresponsible of me to publicly publish info on bomb building.

Anybody can go to google and find out how to make an IED. In Afghanistan they used to just wrap det cord around a few old artillery shells and stick a cell phone in it as a detonator. I don't think Ahmed in Texas had anything even close to that now did he.

I'm not talking about some second rate crappy explosive. It's a little more involved than sticking a cell phone in it. One has to know what they're doing in order to wire it up right.

I'm not sure why you replied to this to be honest.

And I'm not sure why you seemed to need to talk about what Kimmy referred to as your "boom building expertise".

She and you are both trying to embarrass me. Why? Does it surprise you that people know something you don't? What is it that makes you guts need to be sarcastic and mocking of others?

The thread is about how silly the hysteria is about a kind building a clock, not about whether or not you know how to build a bomb.

I said no one would use such a large display for a bomb then kimmy decided to make fun of me. Why. I dunno. I didn't make it about me kimmy and yourself did that.

It's actually about the kid, some of his teachers and some over zealous cops. The latter are being chastised. The kid is off to the white house. I suppose the idiot Trump will try to make it into some sort of Muslim conspiracy.

I agree that it was handled poorly all around. We simply cannot ignore that Muslims are at war with us and our way of life. Just because it will upset the politically correct sensibilities of some.

What you seem to be able to ignore though is just who's airplanes and soldiers are in who's countries. The so called war on terror turns out to be just about as fruitless as the war on drugs.

The Parliament Hill shooter was not Muslim by any stretch of the imagination. He was a deranged nut case easily influenced by propaganda and extremist rhetoric.

He was a Muslim because he claimed to be Muslim. No other qualifications necessary.

So acts of terror against the west should be ignored and not responded to? Just allow them to slaughter us?
