Do you really think these hackers could care less about cheaters? I would think not. Well, now that the affair has been exposed for all to see (neighbours, PTA, etc), the partner feels they must leave the relationship, uprooting the family, children etc, just to save face. This is no longer ENTERTAINMENT. It is an invasion of privacy. To think that you are entertained because it doesn't affect you sounds a bit obscene. msj Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Cast no stones. If one doesn't want no stones cast then one shouldn't get caught. WIP Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 60% of men and 45% of women cheat in a marriage. So should we expose this many people to public exposure when the behaviour is so prevalent? This is my opinion, nothing less and nothing more. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Are you sure "cheat" is the proper term? I bet that if you re-read the material, it would have listed how many have had sex with another person while married. I doubt that all of them are done clandestine...on the sly...which is what Ashley Madison clients have been doing. And so far I notice from what little I've read on the story in the past two days, that the vast majority of clients are men! Where do they find the women for these men looking to have affairs? Maybe they have to line them up with prostitutes. Simple fact of life is that women do not have to try as hard to have an affair as most men do, so that might be part of the gender disparity I notice so far. My position is that the company - Ashley Madison should be shut down and it's owner charged with fraud...since it's his malpractice that led so many clients to thinking that they were safe on his site. Celebrity clients should be featured in Vox, Raw Story and some of the other liberal online scandal rags that are drawn to this kind of story, and the average joe's trying to cheat on their wives....I'm not even that sympathetic to their plight....it seems a little similar to a lot of guys I've known over the years who brag about their screwing around, until they get caught....and then they join the MRA movement etc.. Big Guy Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) If people are upset about being caught, then perhaps they shouldn't register online to have affairs. Don't cheat on your spouse and you have nothing to worry about. How about if some organization illegally obtained the clients list and information of a gay dating site. Would publishing the list and "outing" those who choose not to, be acceptable to you? I feel that this is a question of privacy rather than the nature of the site. How about the subscription list to a nudist magazine? Nudism is legal, healthy and practiced by many people world wide - but many participants choose to keep their recreational choices private. kimmy Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 There's certainly a concern, Big Guy. I have heard that Saudi Arabia may be using data obtained through the Ashley Madison leak to identify gay people. Since homosexuality is punishable by death in Saudi Arabia, this data leak could potentially result in peoples' death (unlike the imaginary spies allegedly put at risk by Edward Snowden...) MSJ wrote earlier about the gay businessman who was outed by Gawker after an escort tried to blackmail him. That was appalling journalism. There was no public interest served by that story. That news story served to further the ends of a blackmailer. (The only matter of public interest that came out of the story was the discovery that Ted Cruz's office was helping the gay escort find legal resources to fight his eviction. That's right... a story involving anti-gay bigotry where Ted Cruz turned out to be the only decent person involved. How weird is that?) But I maintain that Josh Duggar's misadventures *are* a matter of public interest. He's both a celebrity and (until recently) a political figure. In other Ashley Madison news, the leak turns out to be the result of a disgruntled employee. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
