Poor people are given fines they can't afford then their fines are given to a private company that ad fees upon fees to collect the fine putting people in a spiral of debt that can land them in jail, which ends up costing way more money than the initial fine. I'll say it again, municipal fines are way more about fund raising than any form of public safety. Quote
