WestCoastRunner
It is with sad news that Linda Griffiths has died after a long battle with breast cancer. I was tempted to post this in the federal forum as she was very well know for her one woman show as Pierre and Maggie, however, she is an artist and story teller. Depending on what you read, she was born in 56 or 53, although her birth year really doesn't matter. She was a prolific writer, actor and if anyone has not seen her one woman show, she portrayed Pierre and Margaret Trudeau in scenes taking place from 1974 to 1980. RIP Linda. WestCoastRunner
It is for stories like these that I would like to have categories for women on this forum. I would like to recognize women like Linda but unfortunately, I have recommended categories and they have been ignored. It seems that this forum only rules for men. Derek 2.0
It seems that this forum only rules for men. How so? I’m sure if there is a demand for obituaries for obscure female artists, Greg/Charles could create one easy enough.....
Big Guy
You have recognized Linda in your post. I suggest that to imply that the interest in your post is gender specific is sexist. It would be like insinuating that the fact that she was white francophone is the reason there is little interest in her death.

I had no idea who she was/is.......googled her, and now I know, I'm sure she will be missed by family and friends........like most other victims of cancer. Derek 2.0
I rest my case. I guess I missed your "case"..........It appears, from the timeline of posts, that you started a thread on the passing of an artist........then a few minutes later, derailed your own topic......... She was a well recognized, and award winning artist and yet, she is still ignored by the male society of Canada. This is why we need female representation even on this forum. You chose to ignore artistic contributions to the history of canadian polictics. This is why you had no idea who she was.
Derek 2.0
How did I derail my thread? The rant against this forum's lack of topics on women.......Was this not a topic on a women artist? Are you unable to create further topics on women? Perhaps, if you did, and a great deal of interest was shown, another sub-forum would be worthwhile........I wouldn't oppose it.

How could another sub-forum on women's topics be successful when I am one of the few women contributing. If a sub-forum was created for women, who knows! I introduced a topic about Linda Griffith and as I surmised, no one here knew about her. This is why the importance of women forum topics. Do you get it? Derek 2.0
Are you fucking kidding me!!!! No, I forget her name, but from what I remember, she did a segment on 22 minutes or Air Farce, and often "ambushed" various people in politics......I remember the skits of her's that I've seen were quite funny........Comedy, is that not a form of art? On Guard for Thee
I add my RIP to Linda's passing. Also that I'm somewhat taken aback that any Cancuk would not know who that 22 minutes person. I used to have the pleasure and privelage of sitting across a table from Mary et al back in my St. John's days when they were in their Codco days. Oh my sonny boy! Hal 9000
Let's recognize Linda Griffiths. I was kidding - of course. Actually, when I heard the name, I thought of the former Canuck owner Griffiths. I'll look up linda Griffiths right now! PS - Posting this to the Arts and Culture should be good enough, I would think.
