WestCoastRunner Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 It is with sad news that Linda Griffiths has died after a long battle with breast cancer. I was tempted to post this in the federal forum as she was very well know for her one woman show as Pierre and Maggie, however, she is an artist and story teller. Depending on what you read, she was born in 56 or 53, although her birth year really doesn't matter. She was a prolific writer, actor and if anyone has not seen her one woman show, she portrayed Pierre and Margaret Trudeau in scenes taking place from 1974 to 1980. RIP Linda. WestCoastRunner Posted September 22, 2014 Author Report Posted September 22, 2014 It is for stories like these that I would like to have categories for women on this forum. I would like to recognize women like Linda but unfortunately, I have recommended categories and they have been ignored. It seems that this forum only rules for men. Derek 2.0 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 It seems that this forum only rules for men. How so? I’m sure if there is a demand for obituaries for obscure female artists, Greg/Charles could create one easy enough..... Quote
Big Guy Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 You have recognized Linda in your post. I suggest that to imply that the interest in your post is gender specific is sexist. It would be like insinuating that the fact that she was white francophone is the reason there is little interest in her death. Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

I had no idea who she was/is.......googled her, and now I know, I'm sure she will be missed by family and friends........like most other victims of cancer. Quote

Derek 2.0 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 I rest my case. I guess I missed your "case"..........It appears, from the timeline of posts, that you started a thread on the passing of an artist........then a few minutes later, derailed your own topic......... Quote

She was a well recognized, and award winning artist and yet, she is still ignored by the male society of Canada. This is why we need female representation even on this forum. Derek 2.0 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 How did I derail my thread? The rant against this forum's lack of topics on women.......Was this not a topic on a women artist? Are you unable to create further topics on women? Perhaps, if you did, and a great deal of interest was shown, another sub-forum would be worthwhile........I wouldn't oppose it. Quote

How could another sub-forum on women's topics be successful when I am one of the few women contributing. If a sub-forum was created for women, who knows! I introduced a topic about Linda Griffith and as I surmised, no one here knew about her. This is why the importance of women forum topics. Do you get it? Hal 9000 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Is Dame Edna a Canadian? She's great! Quote The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so. - Ronald Reagan I have said that the Western world is just as violent as the Islamic world - Dialamah Europe seems to excel at fooling people to immigrate there from the ME only to chew them up and spit them back. - Eyeball Unfortunately our policies have contributed to retarding and limiting their (Muslim's) society's natural progression towards the same enlightened state we take for granted. - Eyeball

On Guard for Thee Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 I add my RIP to Linda's passing. Also that I'm somewhat taken aback that any Cancuk would not know who that 22 minutes person. I used to have the pleasure and privelage of sitting across a table from Mary et al back in my St. John's days when they were in their Codco days. Oh my sonny boy! Quote
Hal 9000 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Let's recognize Linda Griffiths. I was kidding - of course. Actually, when I heard the name, I thought of the former Canuck owner Griffiths. I'll look up linda Griffiths right now! PS - Posting this to the Arts and Culture should be good enough, I would think.
