bush_cheney2004
Sorry to waste a new topic on this, but I just received (12:44 PM MDT) a very nasty "personal conversation" without even opening the notice because of the mouse-over feature. Does placing the member on my ignore list block any attempts to communicate or harass me in the future ? I already have my PM feature disabled. Out of respect for the forum I will not share the member's name or message content, as it is quite inflammatory.
Charles Anthony
Putting them on ignore should solve that problem. HOWEVER, you are expected to be open to receive messages from the moderator. If you block a moderator's message, DO NOT complain that you did not receive notice. EDITED TO ADD: Sending abusive messages through the PM function is not acceptable any more than if it was posted publicly. If any member receives abusive messages from a fellow member, feel free to Report it if you want a moderator intervention
bush_cheney2004
Thanks...I can do that at the cost of losing that member's posted content, which is probably for the better now. I actually prefer to receive moderator messages through the notification feature as a matter of convenience, as I don't often access my e-mail account. jbg
PM's are a good way to defuse the possibility of a nasty public argument. Some people don't have that goal, however.
bush_cheney2004
No member should be subjected to the kind of abusive message directed at me today, regardless of the goal. To avoid any such conflict or misunderstanding(s), I have never PM'd or initiated a "Personal Conversation" with another member, even when solicited in the forum to do so. Charles Anthony
You may be right. Report it, ignore it and move on..... or not.

I received a rather unpleasant message from him a while back.

Of course, I still will not make an issue of any particular poster.
