bush_cheney2004 Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ! There was also a curious shift in how China was promoting its drones at Zhuhai. In recent years, a selling point for convention goers involved drones presented as U.S. warship killers. Exaggerated, yes, but a glimpse inside Chinese military thinking. In 2010, Chinese defense industries not-so-subtly advertised “bizarre renderings” that illustrated drones “swarming over aircraft carrier battle groups like angry bees,” Defense News reported. China Aerospace and Science Corporation (CASC) also displayed a mural of its WJ-600 drone firing a missile at a U.S. Arleigh Burke class destroyer. This year, that was out. Illustrations of U.S. warships were likewise replaced by generic, stateless ships. And Russian ships. In one video seen this month, a sleek computer-animated combat drone called the Blue Shark flexed its muscles in an attack on a digitized Russian Admiral Kuznetsov class aircraft carrier. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/11/zhuhai/ Edited January 1, 2014 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bjre Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Not at all.........The Americans have the ability to showcase a portion of their nuclear deterrent underneath the noses of the Chinese……..the same can’t be said for the Chinese…..also the Americans have the ability to shoot down the Chinese bombers within the Chinese air defence zone, where as the Chinese can’t even police their own projected air defence zone. But of course the Americans can choose when and where with their B-2......if need be, over top Beijing without the Chinese knowing or having the ability to counter it Oh yes, Just like colonists kill 100,000,000 aboringinal people here in this continent. They have the ability. That has nothing to do with world peace. That is why a recently gallup poll shows: In Gallup Poll, The Biggest Threat To World Peace Is ... America? By Eric Brown on January 02 2014 1:36 PM Is the most dangerous country in the world the United States of America? According to a new poll from WIN and Gallup International, the U.S. represents the largest threat to world peace today. In their annual End of Year poll, researchers for WIN and Gallup International surveyed more than 66,000 people across 65 nations and found that 24 percent of all respondents answered that the United States “is the greatest threat to peace in the world today.” Pakistan and China fell significantly behind the United States on the poll, with 8 and 6 percent, respectively. Afghanistan, Iran, Israel and North Korea all tied for fourth place with 4 percent. I guess lots of poeple in this forum are among the 6% that vote China, that is nothing supprise for they have received brainwash since childhood. Even they realize the truth, they may still reluctant to accept it, similar to the following story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_ClothesThen a child in the crowd, too young to understand the desirability of keeping up the pretense, blurts out that the Emperor is wearing nothing at all and the cry is taken up by others. People are free (and often do) criticize the government. Chinese don't have that luxury and that makes China dangerous and untrustworthy. Any country that does not allow its own people to freely criticize the government is a bigger threat to world peace than the US - no matter what any poll says. Edited January 6, 2014 by TimG Quote

Chinese don't have that luxury and that makes China dangerous and untrustworthy. Any country that does not allow its own people to freely criticize the government is a bigger threat to world peace than the US - no matter what any poll says. People are free to criticize the government, and yet government records and stores all such information for future reference. The US system of surveillance of its own people is the most widespread and sophisticated in the world, a tyrannical dictator's wet dream. The UK recently established a system to block its citizens from being able to view "extremist" content online, where extremist is anything that the government chooses to define as extremist. The government gets to control what information its people see, and filter out anything they find undesirable. How long before the US and Canada follow suit? Western governments are eradicating the rights and freedoms of their people as quickly as they can manage, while the long-oppressed people of places like China are slowly gaining greater freedoms. How long until they cross? Any moral high ground people may have wanted to claim on behalf of the US has evaporated now that the nature and scope of (a part of) its surveillance operations have been disclosed for the world to see. Indeed. Whether it's hate speech, cyber bullying, extremism, terrorism, or national security, Western governments have been chipping away at the rights and freedoms of their people to expression, association, privacy, information, etc. Quote
