Like any good strategic deterrence, it should NEVER have to be used during its lifespan...with luck. Well, done, I say. McNamara always claimed it was a crap-shoot once the statistics ran out on you for MAD. A very 'Who the hell knows???' region of defense. Seems to have worked....so far, at least. I think we can both agree that the US did the vast bulk of the UN's fighting in Korea. Tiny Kapyong aside. Plus, the Red Chinese did attack across the Yalu right down past the 38th in massive force. Then there was my favorite part of the conflict....

You just do not accept the fact that their is no proof that the US is willing to go it alone against a large opponent.

Yes you have clearly proved that Korea was not a super power then(no nuclear weapons) and that the USA would not actually invade NK now.Because now NK has nuclear weapons and is to risky to invade.

Canada declared war on Japan a full 24 hrs before the USA.

Japan declared war on USA.

Germany went up against France,Russia,etc,etc on more than one occasion.

Actually Japan went up against tremendous odds by bombing pearl harbour and simultaneously declaring war on the USA and the British commonwealth.

Japan and Germany had been in cahoots since the 1920s. Japan's various sneak attacks were only possible because of Germany's actions. Although bold...and I have great respect for Japan...Japan was under an oil and rubber embargo which forced its hand. War with the Allies was the only choice when they'd have much rather been busily consolidating China. But, you're the betsy of history if you wish to somehow diminish the American's role in WW2 to something less than what it really was.
