When it comes to health care we ALL share the responsibility and that goes for North America as a whole. There too many people that are over weight and because of that weight have diabetes or heart problems and some of those people don't even know they have the disease. Life style, is a greater reason why both nations health care expenses are soaring. We eat, drinking and do little, to maintain our body's health. There's also proof now, that certain man-made drugs can create health problems, like weight gain. There also the fact that the food processors are putting in items that make up fat. Farmer's are giving their animals hormones which make the animals fat, then we eat the product and we get fat. So, its a lot of things together and the bottom line is.... man is doing it to himself.

Theres some truth to that for sure, but that doesnt explain everything. Theres a lot of protectionism and price gouging going on in the US and Canadian markets, and structural issues like medical associations that negotiate doctors salaries also being in control of the certification process allowing them to create fake scarcity.

This thread was started in January, 2013. It seems a bit tiring to go on and on about U.S. healthcare being mediocre. Surely, we all know that by now. This thread is just bashing against the U.S. healthcare system. We know it's inferior to ours. Why do we keep going on and on about it? Does it make us feel better?

Maybe there are canadians out there that feel the american health care system is better than ours? If so, speak up! I am getting tired of listening to the same old, same old.

Yes...it is very important for some Canadians to believe this and continue the bashing between two lower ranked health care systems. Not just here...it is the favourite topic for any CanAm differential discussion.

OK...but it's still great fun...like a Three Stooges slapping contest !

It's just so fuc'in boring for most of us.

Roger that...but some folks here get so excited about it, it makes up for all the bored ones. And the U.S. vs. Canada dichotomy (and slap fest) crowds out any discussion about the public-private solutions found in the higher ranked systems. Any change is rejected as adopting "American style" health care.
