An oldie but a goodie:

If a believer demands that I, as a non-believer, observe his taboos in the public domain, he is not asking for my respect but for my submission. And that is incompatible with a secular democracy. Flemming Rose (Dutch journalist)

My biggest takeaway from economics is that the past wasn't as good as you remember, the present isn't as bad as you think, and the future will be better than you anticipate. Morgan Housel http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2016/01/14/things-im-pretty-sure-about.aspx

Dolphins escort the Navy's USS Mississippi. Seeing the blast active sonar could give these playful fellows, you'd think they'd learn to keep well away.

I'm hoping the navy has figured that out by now and does the decent thing and turns the blasted sonar off, especially if the boats escorting the sub can see dolphins riding it's bow.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Active and passive sonar arrays on submarines are used with very specific tactics and circumstances in mind, even down to the secure fathometer, because going active is a stealth liability. Transiting on the surface does not typically require active use of the bow mounted sonar array, and even then only single ranging pings are needed. Biologics make a helluva lot of noise on their own, from snapping shrimp to whale farts.

Economics trumps Virtue.

Next time I'm piped aboard the Mississippi, I'll let them know. Hey...you forgot to add a random bit 'o "technology".

I wonder how that Scotch™ Bra feels when it's time to peel it off? Bet it's painful.

Oh, Sterling engines. The ones that convert heat into mechanical motion. Yeah, I like stuff like that.
