Other than that, your attempt to reopen the discussion here is not going to work.

I'm not attempting anything, just wodering why someone would join a discussion if they had nothing to contribute other than accusing people of rulebreaking and making sexist remarks. Actually, never mind...none of my business.

Trying to keep the forums civil should be everyone's' business.

Perhaps my methods need to be less visible as to not derail a thread but at the time I thought the discussion was worthwhile and fairly civil.

Anyway, off to Victoria!

\Then report me for crying out loud.

If what I say is insulting or is off topic then go ahead and report me.

Of go into that topic and explain to me how my post is off topic or show me where I have made an insult.

By all means - educate me.

I have no interest in talking to you or educating you. But rest assured, I WILL report you, every time I see you doing things reportable.

You should talk man. Go back to asking your wife if you're allowed to buy a gun.

If Bryan decided not to pursue the matter to the extent of actually reporting about it - why should anyone do it?
Hmmm..... that is a tough question to answer. I never really thought of the situation that way.

Once the report is made, the "Why?" never enters my thinking process. I just move on to investigate the report.

Isn't this being petty?
No. It is just a matter of perspective.

Interesting. So you see, there is a useful point to this thread after all, it reveals to the mods that there are people with an agenda to "stir the pot", in a seemingly innocuous way. Then when they get a response, they report people as though they are themselves innocent. As though they don't make provocative statements themselves at times, and frequently get away with it.

That sort of thing has been happening all of the time. There is nothing new nor interesting here.

If you can not trust the mods to be able to see through all of that pot-stirring sort of behavior, that is too bad but all you have to do is report forum violations whenever you encounter them and ignore those members. That still works best with or without your faith.

Problems arise when people choose to respond in kind and then they counter-stir-the-pot by reporting a post after having jumped into the fray. You would be amazed at how many people unwittingly engage in this sort of counter-stirring nonsense instead of just ignoring the initial forum violation.

Thanks for sharing that, Charles. We must seem like a gang of immature squabbling children to you at times. Sadly jobs like yours require constant intervention, because people forget to behave themselves all the time.

Maybe if forum members read this comment, we will all think about maintaining a certain civility in the forums. I think some joking around is ok, as long as it is not personal. People should not get angry. On the other hand, people should not provoke others to become angry, for example by being an asshole.

That guy msj is the one who got me suspended, and then afterward made taunting posts about me to which I did not respond. I reported it to the mods but never heard a thing back from them.

He is the type who will make provocative, jeering statements and then if you try to have fun with him, he will immediately report you.

In a few of the threads I pointed out to the mods, he swoops in, says something off topic, usually in my case or with Betsy it's about insulting someones religion. Then he waits for someone to make a response. so he can make his move. I call that TROLLING.

I have found msj among others to be immature and not worth responding to most of the time. For whatever reason some posters need to irritate others and it's some kind of game to be won instead of a discussion to explore ideas or just gab. In life and in the forum some people are best avoided.

I have to hone in on my self-discipline to know enough when to walk away. Thanks for that input.

Some posters I choose not to engage because I know they are only trolling me, many of them calling me Mr. Canada. Others who I know are trolling me yet I have fun engaging them. it all depends on the amount of fun you want to have.

It's just her way to provoke msj.

Yep I agree with CC and thought this from the outset.

Nevertheless, I think she asked fair questions that deserved honest answers which is what I tried to provide (and where I couldn't answer honestly I made a joke by referring to a random number generator).

IOW - if Manny and Sharkman disagree with you then you are an "asshole" and/or "immature."

This is how Manny thinks "about maintaining a certain civility in the forums" while Sharkman clearly is following his own advice of "in life and in the forum some people are best avoided."

When I said don't be an a-hole I actually wasn't referring to you in particular. It's not about having disagreement with you, there is nothing to disagree with.

Remember, you said something about maintaining civility in the forum....that's why you report posters.
