Just ran across this article...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2223718/Chinese-man-sues-wife-ugly-court-AGREES--awarding-120-000.html

In summary, the wife had plastic surgery to fix her ugliness (before they met) and never told the husband. When their daughter was born and looked ugly, the truth came out.

Now, I don't know about $100k in damages, but morally, I don't think it's right to marry someone and not tell them some basic truths about yourself, such as having had major cosmetic surgery that made you look like a totally different person. The foundation of any kind of marital relationship is trust, and hiding something like that shows a fundamental lack of trust and honesty.

This has got to be a joke... He is complaining that his wife did not tell him she had surgery? It is his own damn fault for marrying for looks. When someone gets married they take their partner for who they are or should anyway rather than how they look. Should a person who used to be morbidly obese inform everyone of their history on the off chance that it is genetic in some way?

How someone looks is a part of who they are, not necessarily any less important than any other aspect of one's being, whether it is one's intelligence, personality, voice, culture, education, etc. Individuals select mates based on the complete package of their attributes, both physical and non-physical.

What he ended up with was a pretty wife, who cares how she got her looks? No matter if she is the most beautiful women in the world, or the ugliest women in the world, there is no guarantee that the baby will be as attractive or not attractive as the mother. He married for looks and he ended up with what he wanted seems to me he is a pretty awful human being if he is going after his wife because she gave birth to an "ugly" baby.

This is the greatest court case of all-time. It's freaking hilarious. And ya, i'd be really PO'd too if I knew I married into ugly genes without knowing.

Also, that is an AMAZING plastic surgery job.

It's not so much a matter of caring how she got her looks, as the principle of not hiding important information about yourself from your spouse. It's just a matter of openness and honesty in a relationship, that's all.

No matter if she is the most beautiful women in the world, or the ugliest women in the world, there is no guarantee that the baby will be as attractive or not attractive as the mother.

Children tend to have a strong resemblance to their parents. You are right, there is no guarantee, but there is a good probability that a child will bear a resemblance to their parents.

He married for looks and he ended up with what he wanted seems to me he is a pretty awful human being if he is going after his wife because she gave birth to an "ugly" baby.

He's going after his wife because, as mentioned in the story, she "deceived him and convinced him to marry her under false pretenses".

I would've preferred to know something like that about my husband, of course, but I wouldn't consider it grounds for divorce. But that's just me.

Calling his baby ugly shows what a class-act this guy is so divorcing his wife isn't all that shocking. I wonder what kind of a relationship he'll have with that poor child, if any. He sounds like he's just superficial enough to cut off the baby too. My heart goes out to her whether or not he remains in her life.

I'm also left wondering why the wife didn't just get a paternity test instead. Not that it's the right thing to do but if she's that secretive about the plastic surgery why not keep the charade going?

I don't know, to me it does not seem to be such a big deal as there are plenty of other things I would see as deal breakers.

Who is to say that the father and his genes are not the ugly link? I don't know, maybe its just me that thinks this way but to me marriage should be about love, if it was about looks as it seems here than he was getting ready to leave the relationship as soon as her looks gave way.

He's going after his wife because, as mentioned in the story, she "deceived him and convinced him to marry her under false pretenses".

So you mean every fat guy and girl who work their asses off to get fit should disclose their history in the off chance that their partner would not want to take the chance of having a baby with fat genes?

And what about him? He probably pretended to love her and he did not disclose that he loved her looks rather than loving her.

People are too hung up on looks nowadays. It really shouldn't matter what the person looks like on the outside but on the inside as well. I'm guilty of this as well but still. I cannot imagine how embarrassing it must have been for this mans poor wife. Not only does she have to go through life looking at the mirror but she also has been deemed not attractive by a court of law. Sad.

take any article from the daily mail with more than a grain of salt, a bucket of salt, the DM is among the worst of tabloids...

there is no way the woman has had the amount of surgery the mail claims, well in excess of a $100k, she appears to have some eye lid work done(costs less than 10K here) and that's it the rest is cosmetics, in china surgery like that would cost a couple of $K at most ....

as for ugly kids, there no way to predict how kids will look as adults, I've seen ugly babies/kids become beautiful and cute kids turn out ugly..and ugly parents have good looking kids (as adults) and the reverse as well...

How did she "convince" him to marry her? He says he married her out of love.

What a jerk talking about his daughter that way. She's lucky to be rid of him, imo - unless they are two of a kind.

if it's from the daily mail the entire article is probably bogus here's a link to what's been done with makeup alone...

start the video at 4:25...

an assortment of asian makeovers...

my daughter tells me the asians masters of makeovers... the picture in the article likely comes from a asian reality show...
